CZ 557 rifle barrel break-in

every rifle manufacturer has their recs on barrel break-in for their rifles. CZ says their barrels don't need it b/c they are hammer forge rifled, not button or cut rifled. Does anyone have experience with this on CZ's? TIA

The way I understand it is if you have a cheap barrel with imperfections “break in” will smooth out the imperfections which you will then start to see better groups.
From listening to people that shoot 1000yd 1/2moa groups in completions barrel break-in is not a real thing.
The moral of the story is you will not ruin a barrel by not "breaking it in".

People are claiming that copper bullets shot down a steel bore will remove tool marks. Then you clean and repeat.
Take a piece of copper and and you can scratch a file until you're dead and you still won't wear the file at all. It's BS made up by barrel manufacturers to sell more barrels.
The more you shoot and the more you clean, the shorter the lifespan of the barrel.
Buy a gun, go and shoot it. That's the barrel break in.

I followed the barrel break-in directions per Christensen when I got one of their rifles. I saw 2 MOA groups go to 1/3 MOA after 60 rounds. After two boxes through my CVA 35 Whelen, I saw 6" groups go down to 1". That's why I'm asking.

Sure it wasn't due to fouling the barrel?

This is 100% not related to “barrel break-in.”

A barrel is not going to break in. Just shoot it

I no longer go through a "barrel break in process." Having said that, I do like to keep the barrel fairly clean early on when I'm working up loads.

I am sincerely asking why not?

Couple buddies that shoot some prc and constantly change barrels and rifles swear that barrel break in is a requirement by most manufacturers.
They claim that the reason they require it is because they want to have a crutch for when or if the gun don’t shoot they can then claim “ barrel break not followed”!!

Last couple of guns I've done, I won't start the load work up until I have at least 100 rounds through the barrel.
I won't strictly follow the break in process but I do clean it after the 1st 3 5 round shots. The cleaning is mostly cleaning the carbon and not so much on the copper.
