When I lived in New England I hunted in an ice storm. It was pretty cool everything was coated in ice. I was much, much younger then. It was also the last day of deer season.

Big ice/snow storm came through and I went duck hunting in the basin. Got word of the bridges closing so I packed up, loaded the boat, crossed the basin bridge and launched again. Ended up killing 1 pintail, nothing else. I got him mounted. There was geese flying around but I couldn’t get a shot on them. It was pretty miserable, I wouldn’t do it again lol

Some of my best goose hunts have involved smashing inches of ice to set decoys, north winds so hard I could hardly walk, and birds so cold they REALLY wanted to come meet 500 of their fake friends

Yes...in late 80’s or maybe early 90’s we had a hard freeze where temps in La. fell into single digits. We hunted geese in a rice field close to Hayes in SW La. Great hunt! We shot our limits of specks and about 15 snows and blues. Back at the camp by 9am.

Hiked out in a 15 degree blasting snow/ice storm thing in Colorado last year. It was brutal. 40mph gusts, all our water froze solid instantly. Food all frozen solid. Good thing we only had a few miles to go or I likely wouldn't have made it. I got wet and hypothermic the night before and was pretty sure I was gonna die. If my buddies wouldn't have talked me down the trail I almost certainly would have died out there.

This stuff is nothing to play with.

hunted in ice and snow a few times and I've never seen a single deer move in it. I think our southern deer don't like it either. Miserable hunts except for the pretty scenery.

Dec 1989. Smoked them. Not sure if the fed and state statute of limitations has run yet on the migratory bird act violations that occurred over those two days.

Best duck hunt I’ve ever been on was in 6° weather with freezing rain and sleet. Everything around us was locked up. We knocked out a couple beaver dams 2 days before to keep water flowing in front of us bc we knew what was coming a couple days later. 6 man limit of mallards and gray ducks in 28min. It was nothing short of amazing. One of those once in lifetime hunts. Deer hunting is the total opposite. I don’t know where they hole up in weather like this but they flat out don’t get on their feet it doesn’t seem

In South MS as a kid I double dog dared a buddy to stick his tongue to the barrel of his shotgun. It stuck! We laughed our arse off!

Here in the Ozarks, it's steady single digits with windchills well below zero. About 6in of snow thus far.

If I had to hunt...
-Imagine impossible to move quietly.
-Birds are easy prey, just gotta find them
-We have a ton of deer here, I've seen zero this week
-If you killed a large animal, you might die trying to move it (sweat + cold).

I've only hunted in snow once which was 1/11/21 in Arcadia. It snowed all night and the snow started melting around 10:00 am. Didn't see 1 animal. Bird, squirrel, or deer. As ice melted it sounded like a water balloon hitting the cement. I was thinking I should've hunted the food plot as I know deer certainly couldn't like walking in the woods with big piles of snow hitting them. Sure enough, when I got my trail camera pictures, deer in the food plot eating corn from the feeder. Lesson learned.

This is from the last heavy snow we got. Hunted the day after the snow.

We got around 5 inches of snow here today and current wind chill is -5. Supposed to get to -1 tonight. I'll hunt mid day tomorrow but supposed to get another 6 inches the next day. Thursday is what I'm looking forward to, it warms up to 28 and they have to eat. If you have a food source it will be visited.
