I’m considering going on a tuna trip sometime next week to see if we can find some shrimp boats. I’ll pop back in here and update you if I have any other random thoughts. That’s it for now. Talk later.

So do you use metal blade spears to hunt with, or do you knap your own out of flint?

Crossbows aren't archery

They fire sticks with broadheads on the ends of them propelled by strings attached to limbs. And you have to pull back the string for it to fire.

So what type of spear do you use to hunt with? Metal, or flint knapped?

So you hunt with a speargun? Well, that's not spearhunting. You're using a device that propels it. True spearhunting is throwing the spear.

Then, if you spearhunt, it's not good enough. You should just use a knife to make it "real".

Then, the knife is not fair. You should just use your hands.

See? When does it end? A crossbow is a legal method of taking game. Why does the degree of difficulty matter? Is rifle hunting "only for handicapped people?" I can pull back a 100lb warbow, but it's not enjoyable, and it would probably lead to me making stupid shots on an animal. Therefore, I use my compound bow in most situations. I also have a crossbow, and I love to shoot it. It's enjoyable. And it limits a lot of the possibility of me wounding an animal. So I also use that. I have many rifles, and I use them as well. I can throw a spear, and I'm sure that if it came down to it, I could take an animal with it. However, when there are more efficient options at my disposal that are legal to use, I would rather use a higher % option that will lead to a cleaner, more humane kill instead of just upping the degree of difficulty just to prop up my ego. My ego needs no propping up!

Crossbows are for microwave generation pussies that are too impatient or stupid to learn a craft. You don't belong in the special archery season with the rest of us that worked hard to learn a craft so we could enjoy extra hunting. You are not archers. You are not bow hunters.

Cock that bolt on your fig arse rail and crank it up your asses and pull the trigger. Why don't you go take some head shots at 50yds with bolts tipped with giant fixed blades that you never practiced with. Or maybe use some brittle shite mechanical head and lose every deer you shoot.

Buch of fig as pussies.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I also hunt with a real bow. I've had many kills with them from squirrels to whitetails. I consider myself a good bowhunter, and I've worked hard to become one.

And I counter with this- archers don't belong in the special hunting class with real hunters- men that hunt with spears. Taking a bow that has an 85% let off shooting carbon arrows at 315 FPS with razor blades on them is not manly enough. Unless you hunt with a longbow, cedar arrows with turkey feathers, and hand knapped broadheads, you must be a puss, right?

And spearhunters don't belong in the special class of hunters that do it with their bare hands. Using a blade is for pansies that weren't patient enough or are too stupid to learn to use their hands.

Because that's what it's all about, isn't it? You're "tough enough" to hunt the way you do, and anyone doing it an easier way is not as "tough", right? So what do you say to all of your padnas that use firearms to hunt? That's about the least challenging way to do it. Sit in a heated box 150 yards away with your 300 win mag, your Vortex Optic fixed on the 8 deer eating the pile of corn you spent hundreds of dollars on, and pulling the trigger. Real tough to do, right?

So to sum up, I've spent about 35 years "learning many crafts". Shotgun, bow, crossbow, rifle, throwing knives, axes, Katana swords, etc. I feel pretty confident that I can hit a target with any of those weapons that I choose to discharge. I, however, am also an ethical hunter, and I do it because I enjoy it. I put myself in positions to make the most ethical shots possible in an enjoyable way. Some days, that involves a longbow. Some days, it involves a compound bow. Some days, crossbow.

As I said before, unless you have learned the craft of firing 100lb longbows accurately at up to 35 or so yards, it's not right to question someone's manhood for using a different weapon than you choose to use.

Now, have you ever killed a deer with a firearm? And what is your current bowhunting setup?

for someone that claims that do not need their ego propped up, you sure seem awfully insecure about your use of a crossbow
