Got a bunch of Bass Pro gift cards for a recent birthday, so I was thinking going ahead and get one of the high end coolers. News to me, they are not making RTic right now because of a law suit by Yeti. So what would be some other choice or is Yeti absolutely worth the money? Thanks

Huh? Think you got some very outdated news. You can certainly buy RTICs right now. That would be my choice.

I would get some lifetime coolers and save the gift cards for a hole puncher.

Rtic is selling Rtics...maybe not at BPS tho. Lawsuit with Yeti was settled 3-4 yrs ago. Most everyone has gotten into the rotomolded game, but I like Igloo Ultramarine series if you dont want rotomolded LINK

I’ve got a pelican that I really like but it’s also the first of one of them “high end coolers” I’ve ever had.

I think that era is over. I have a big one (and it’’s still solid as a rock) but regret not also getting a small one.

I got em and I love em, but I won't lie, that one loaded down is the HEAVIEST damned ice chest on the planet

I find myself using the coleman extreme just to save myself the forearm pump

I have a 45 QT Rtic that is great but due to the weight I almost always use a 70 qt Coleman Xtreme Coastal Marine icechest that I found on the side of the road. It flew out of my dad's boat a couple months after finding it and after patching a small hole on the bottom with 5200 it was as good as new. Metal hinges and will hold ice for a few days. It can hold 2 does no problem.

i own a Rtic, Pelican and several Yeti's. I like the Rtic and Yeti better than Pelican. all of them are better/more rugged than the regular type ice chest. The one thing about Yeti is they are everywhere so parts/accessories can be found no matter where you are.

The Lifetime coolers are a damn good buy for the money.

We have two large ones we take camping with us and they easily hold ice 5-6 days.

Yeti still the best and partly due to customer service. You can buy one ice chest and you are set for life. It breaks they send you a new one.
But I do like the new rtic ultra light series. They shave a bunch of weight and are surprising light.

Solid cooler just like the rest of them. Got one for my dad in 2014 for helping me on my house. Its been the bench seat cooler in his boat and his camping cooler since then. Probably over 150 trips between fishing and camping. Still in great shape.

Similar, happy with ours, just a few noteworthy things.
-the fact the drain plug is tethered is smart
-the lid may not be strong enough to stand on if you think that's something you'll need
-quality control is less than a premium product, so check them out in store first. Flashing from the molding process is common and might cause the cooler to not latch properly, but can easily be trimmed.
-had one of the latches break, and they sent me two replacement latches in a matter of days
-the no-slip feet are both nice and annoying. It doesn't slide around in the bed of your truck or in a boat, but it also doesn't slide around when you would like to slide the super-heavy thing out. I always load it last and at the very rear of the truck.

I take it camping, and we go camping as many as 12x per year. No issues keeping ice for an average weekend.
It's better than a soft-sided anything, but I still say my Yeti Tundra performs better, but you can buy a fleet of Lifetime coolers for the same cost. Depends on your preference.

Coolers and flashlights are my weakness, I guess.
