Why would they be against it? Oklahoma Sheriffs were very supportive when Oklahoma went Constiutional Carry.
I've had several LEO say "it makes our job more dangerous." As if criminals are respecting the absence of constitutional carry.
Honor Code vetoed this twice I believe.

And if it's like here in Texas, people still put up "no unlicensed carry" signs. So even though constitutional carry exists, private businesses are more likely to prohibit carry to those without a license.

I just them to show me where I get a "license"

Hopefully. You'd be surprised how many people who have no logical thought on the topic. Immediately think everyone carrying is a bad idea. The a 2 minute conversation about how criminals don't care if there is a law or not and they re-evaluate. Just had this discussion with my mom. So you do end up with owners making a dumb decision just because they didnt take tune to think about it. They just assume guns are for bad guys.

I will still continue to conceal carry whether it passes or not…I will never let the govt. decide if I can protect me and my family.

Bill made it out of house committee yesterday with vote of 10-3. Should go for final house vote this week.

It should pass. Passed initially with a veto proof majority in both chambers 2 years ago, until JBE vetoed it and a few RINOs either changed their vote or didn’t show up for the veto override session. Landry said on the campaign trail that he’d sign it if the legislature passed the bill again
Sen. Ronnie Johns (R-Lake Charles) is not at the Louisiana Capitol this week he says because he’s recovering from a July 7 knee replacement surgery, but the NAGR says Johns “decided to be absent during the session, further aiding in the failure of the Governor’s veto of SB 118 being overridden.”
Cocksuker was appointed to the Gaming Board the following week.

If this passes what will happen to conceal carry permit? I assume people will still do it for reciprocity and background checks?

That's exactly correct, but it won't be required if you aren't concerned about that.

Right. I'm already covered under the one they passed for veterans. Driving to work I see plenty of CCW class signs. I imagine some of these might be hurting for business soon.

The point being that if they find a concealed gun on someone without a permit, they can confiscate it and potentially arrest the person to get them and their guns off the street. When unrestricted concealment is legal, they have to give the gun back to the street criminal and wish him a nice day.

So somebody with a clear criminal record can be charged simply for carrying a firearm for self-defense. A person with a gun that is not a threat to anyone and has no history of being such a threat. That sounds pretty stupid actually.

Well, if they are actually a criminal then they would have a reason to detain them beyond carrying a firearm. If they are already a convicted felon then they could be charged as a felon in possession regardless of this law. You seem to have a very low IQ for what this law actually does and how it would actually apply in reality. Typical of you though.

Yall need to find another word to substitute for criminal. You can't keep using criminal like this, it makes you look stupid.
A criminal is a person that has committed a crime. No cop is giving a criminal their weapon back.

Is still illegal and not getting their weapon back.

I’m not arguing the point. I’m just responding to the question of wondering why law enforcement is against unlimited concealed carry. I’ve spoken with friends who are police officers and that’s what they’ve said. They pretty much know who is who in the areas that they regularly patrol. They consider it a good thing whenever they can confiscate a couple concealed guns. Everyone knows that there are others that can be gotten, but they still use the finding of a gun on a pat down as justification for taking someone in and confiscating the weapon.

Most LEO's are not. Their unions and leadership has been because they don't want to lose the revenue stream. Their complaints of public safety/officer issues are bullshite, it's always about the money. In Louisiana's case, they provided a substitute for the lost money and suddenly most Louisiana LEO organizations are neutral about the law this time around.

quote:probably the only reason I would keep mine, maybe.
I plan to keep mine for traveling to other states with reciprocal laws.
The only concern I’ve had with the constitutional carry is having everyone in their momma thinking they can just carry everywhere with 0 training whatsoever. I’m sure there are people out there that haven’t even touched a handgun that are going to buy and carry a foty glock because they can legally conceal.

Former boss was flagged on initial application due to psychological drugs (many), resubmitted application without his long list of drugs. Issued on second attempt, drew and shot a mirror in his bath room a couple years later when he saw someone looking back at him.
Would bet there are thousand's like him with cc permits walking around.
