People act like having a manual safety is the same as having an unloaded gun.
No one should ever rely 100% on a mechanical/external safety. Everyone should follow Cooper's "Four Little Rules" every time they touch a firearm.
This applies to revolvers (which rarely if ever have a mechanical safety if they are of modern manufacture), to semi-auto pistols (which may or may not have a mechanical safety), and to rifles and shotguns (which will almost always have a mechanical safety).

Headed tomorrow to buy the Cr920 combat. Went back and forth between several and all the reviews out there kept pointing me to this gun.
Excellent choice of weapon. Glock hired Shadow to do their upgrades. Shadow bought into their patent. The MR920 is a Glock 19 with better parts and upgrades. Only issue I have ever had with the MR918 is replacing three firing pins. I shot thousands upon thousands of rounds and that is the only thing that failed. When you start getting light strikes on the primer it is time to change it out. Costs about twenty bucks.
Great gun.
But I still carry a 1911 45acp

I pocket carry only.
My faves are glock 43 and glock 26.
Tried the ruger lcp but didn’t like shooting it.
I’m thinking about non conceal though as it’s getting more acceptable

1. An automatic can actually be grabbed by the perp and the slide disabled
If you are attacked by John Wick or Jason Bourne or any other Hollywood creation.
Go ahead and grab the slide of a Glock and get someone to pull the trigger and see how that works out for you.

2. Most homeowners don’t load and cock an automatic so have to waste valuable seconds puking back the slide
Might as well say its unloaded if there isn't a round in the chamber of a striker fired pistol.
quote:
. A double action revolver avoids 1 and 2 and you can leave one chamber empty for safety. A peep can grab the cylinder too but you will have a billet in him first, faster
Again, might as well be unloaded. And it isnt all that much faster. If time is of the essence, you'll have a round locked and loaded.

However, a very young child can pick up a loaded GLock, and pull the trigger with no problem!
A child should never have access to a loaded Glock or any other loaded firearm. Especially with no supervision or training/understanding of how the firearm works.

Have any of you EVER went to shoot a duck and forgot to take the safety off?
Not even close to the same thing as a conceal carry shooting incident, but yes, I've been at the dove field and forgotten my shotgun was on safe and had to let birds fly.
More than once...

Sure, but shite can happen. Does your concealed carry pistol always go directly from on you to in a locked safe and from that safe to directly on you? I doubt many people can truthfully say yes to that.
Not to mention, it's you who are most likely to shoot yourself while you are handling the gun. Loading/unloading and holstering/unholstering are the times that it's easiest to mess up, and you will do those 4 things many many many orders of magnitude more times than you'll use the gun to defend yourself.
It's simply about mitigating risks. Odds are extremely slim you'll ever actually need to use that handgun but you will absolutely handle it while it is loaded many times. A safety could save you or someone else if you do mess up somehow. With training it's no tactical disadvantage whatsoever to have one if you use the gun just a little bit to maintain familiarity.

I have no preference when it comes to manual safeties or not. I'm in agreement with you that you should practice with what you carry. My issue is with people who claim that pistols without manual safeties are somehow inherently unsafe or are "scared" to carry one without.
I was specifically talking about carrying without a round in the chamber and how, yes, you will lose precious seconds in a situation that calls on you to draw your pistol.

I can still see that old picture in the book
" Street Survival- Tactics For Armed Encounters "
There was a picture of a cop sprawled out in the can goods isle of a grocery store, with a hole in his neck.
The caption read , " this officer died because he was unfamiliar with an Automatic "
That book was academy issue for many years. It had use of cover pics from the 1973 Howard Johnson Sniper incident in New Orl.

For me, Shield 9 or Glock 42. I know, .380 but I'm pretty accurate with it.

I don't see how people pocket carry those; I'd have to wear cargo pants everywhere.

I doubt there's a person alive who "likes" shooting an LCP. But it's my go-to if I have to pocket carry.

I qualified for CC and CCSO today.
The CR920 was awesome. While on range I personally witnessed 3 different Glocks misfire, misfeed, or fail to feed.
Not knocking the Glock at all. Any weapon can and will fail at some point. Just saying the know on the CR was feed issues when new. I’m 200 rounds in with no issues. And it’s a sweet shooting dude. Trigger pull is a little long but once you learn how to adjust to it the gun becomes very enjoyable.

I can't either.
There's no telling how many doves, ducks, squirrels and rabbits I have shot with a shotgun and I have NEVER missed a shot because I forgot the safety was on. That's because it was ALWAYS on unless I had shouldered my gun to shoot.
I completely understand that hunting is not at all like a self defense situation but I can't understand why anyone who has trained and practiced with a gun with a manual safety would ever forget to flip it off when the time comes to use it.

Whichever gun you’ll carry and practice with consistently.
