Progress...Moving to markup in the House today. If you have a few minutes make a phone call or email to your rep to support the bill and get it moved forward. LINK

Nuts that this is even a thing. There shouldn't be a permit to carry in any state to begin with.

Agree, but this is the best we have in reality right now.

A permit helps separate the people willing to pay the tax from the those who aren't willing to pay the tax. The only thing a permit does is show proof you paid, nothing more. Kind of like an inspection sticker. It's not proof of anything other than payment.

Not in Alabama. I was in and out in 2 minutes with a 5 year CC permit for $100. All I had to show was my DL.

This is what I'm talking about. All things are not equal. Concealed carry classes can be anything from very intense training to an instructor friend who just e-mails you a certificate every couple of years. Just like an inspection sticker is not proof your vehicle is safe to be on the roadway. If that were the case then cops would be required to scrape off inspection stickers on vehicles who have safety violations.

The concealed carry license itself is not anything more than proof that you paid the state for the privilege.

you're totally dismissing the fact that you won't be breaking gun laws. that's kind of important these days.

In Louisiana it has to be ok’d by the sherrif of your parish. If he nixes it, you aren’t getting your permit.
