First off, fml.

Now that that's out of the way, what the hell guys...? These things are horrible I've been coming to Mississippi to hunt and fish and visit family a few times a year for 20+ years and never gotten into em like this.

The shite do y'all do to kill the itch?

TIA.

Just drink until you pass out. There is nothing worse than getting peppered by those shits.

Scrub with Alcohol until your skin is as red as a Marachino cherry*, then take Benadryll and drink 1/2 bottle of whiskey.

*if you are non-caucasion or Asian, the color of your skin may not get to the proper visual indicator. In this case, proceed with the above steps, for approximately 30 minutes, then take Benadryll and drink 1/2 bottle Hennesey.

Man, those frickers are terrible. rub yourself down with alcohol and/or put a cup of bleach in bath water should kill them.

also, go and get something for the itching from the drug store for the itching.

lastly, be sure to wash your clothes in hot water, or they will get on you again when you get near the clothes.

Thanks, guys

Benadryl and whiskey has been my medication of choice. At the very least it helps me sleep.

I'm sure y'all have been here, but good lord. Well over 150 of these little shits are spread out from my hips to my ankles. They're on my fricking dick

You would fall out laughing if you just saw how fast I stripped down naked

I washed my clothes, but in cold water. Do I need to wash them again?

I'm right there with you. I went to Dallas to visit some family, basically stood on concrete the entire time I was there, and I'm eaten up by those things right now and it stinks!

I don't know for sure, but I would probably wash them again. I had them on my clothes once and caught another dose the next day that was on my truck seat from the day before.

Granny used to put a cup of bleach in our bath water to help with itching. Don't really know if it helped or not.

I usually just scratch until they bleed. I find the pain easier to deal with than the itch.

I scratch till I draw blood while in a scaulding how shower and then rub with alcohol. The pain is definitely more bearable than the itch.

OP, FYL and good luck

I've done the same thing. The ONLY time I've been in grass was putting my canoe in the water and I jumped over the stuff. I have no clue how I got in em so bad. At least 5 other people with me strolled right through the shite and...nothing. My mom has been gardening all over the yard and...nothing.

Bleach bath my old man would say. As for me, good sensations I get from pinch and Rollin a rd bug bite on my ball bag. The itching should subside in about 10 days, so hang in there. And fkn use OFF! Next time.

My parents live on a river, I'd walk down to,the River and fish as a kid and red bugs would cover me every gd time. They do suck, but I find humor in your story.

My family lives right off the Mississippi River in Gunnison. Our cabin is right next to theirs.

Here's a catfish my uncle's buddy caught for y'all's enjoyment.

ETA: Well neverfricking mind. The catfish was 110 pounds. I just need to give up on today

On a more scientific note...

Keeping oxygen away from the sores keep them from itching. That is why the old wives tale about coating then in nail polish works. Nail polish forms a barrier that keeps oxygen off the bite which keeps them from itching. Fill a bath and just sit in it a while and the itching will go away. Until you get out of course. That and scalding hot showers are the only thing that kept me sane.
