870 express.

They get a lot of hate on here, but I’ve been around a bunch of them new and old and have only seen one fail, and it was an old one from being shot out.

What the hell are all of you doing to lose so many paddles!?

I have an 870 from '06 that has never given me any fits. Not sure what year the decline began.

The 870 is $50 less than the Nova, and all they have is wood stocks in stock. I'll pay the extra $50, get a benelli in black synthetic, and like I said, I may have that gun forever

This made me I always hear people say "you can use it for a paddle" or I've used it for a paddle and it still went bang". I always picture a guy paddling a jon boat with the butt of a shotgun, and I think to myself, WTF were they doing?

Any of yall shoot buck shot often? I may consider using this gun as a deer hunting shotgun as well. Does buckshot mess up the gun? What about a slug? I have my little 30/30 rifle, but I think a shotgun with buckshot would be a pretty good option as well. What do yall think? Mostly would be hunting either a climbing stand, or just on the ground in the woods, no real open fields.

I've had an 870 for 14 yrs, maybe cleaned it once, still works fine and has been thru hell. Get a synthetic stock.

I'd stay away from the newer 870s , picked one up from Academy last year and it wouldn't eject spent shells of any brand. You literally had to beat the stock on the ground and sometimes that just ripped the rim off. Used a bore mop and polishing compound to clean the chamber up, it's alot better now.

Made a good decision. My nephew has one. Twice I’ve put put it up in my closet (a/c) and it twice it came out completely covered in rust.

Both times it was cleaned thoroughly and oiled well.
The company has gone to shite and it’s a terrible thing because they were on top for a very long time.

I've noticed the Nova has a sight bead in the middle of the barrel, and a red fluorescent one at the tip of the barrel. I'm curious as too whether or not that extra sight will help. I have a tendency to shoot above birds. Maybe the extra sight will help with that. I've had the bright glow sights before and I liked em.

Chasing a cripple in a pirogue got excited laid paddle down to grab gun. When I went for the paddle .....it was gone. In my defense it was windy with white caps....maybe 2ft. seas..

Yes the Wingmaster, the express is a pos. Try finding a old Mossberg 500. Their best they ever made. Cheaper made then a wingmaster, but they hold up just as good.
