Does anyone here have a camp in Grand Isle? And how far of a drive is it for you? I’m thinking of buying in to one.

How far a drive would depend on where one was coming from?

Tell me what camp you buy I'd I'll tell you how long it takes me to get there. Please leave a key under the door mat, I promise to do the dishes before I leave.

You're going to buy into a camp somewhere you've never been and don't know how long it takes to get there? Sounds perfectly reasonable.

BTW, it only takes me 35 minutes in my choppa.

Yours must be a little faster than mine, or it could be my weight compared to yours, idk.

Are you gonna stop at the toll booth or just blow through that mf flipping the bird?

This will figure heavily in my calculations.

Land subsidence, erosion, sea level rise... how long will this camp be there?

i think you can expect 20 years if there isnt a single strong hurricane that comes through there, only takes one of those to be the end of this investment in the next 6 months

i would only invest throw away money in something like that, because you are literally rolling the dice it could be gone on 6 months or last 30 years, its a pure high risk gamble. but the reward of having it is worth it if you have that disposable cash to risk it.

Buy empty lot
Buy a camper
Place camper on empty lot
Go to arties
Pick up some strange at arties
Bring piece of strange to said camper.
Set coordinates to Poundtown
=win

Storm comes, pull camper out preferrably without strange still inside.

We bought a lot in 1999 and put a 2 br mobile home up on pilings and wouldn't take anything for it now. We drive from about 15 miles west of BR, and usually take us 2.5 to 3 hrs.

Can you still bring mobile homes onto the island or is it now restricted?
