Palmetto state ar pistol with 5 mags stays under the seat.

The way I look at it is if I even have to reload once I should have driven away faster

The lever action .22’s are great for a wide variety of LR, shorts and the barrels are short enough that cb caps work great.

The youth models are great for this exact reason. The marlin 39a and Henry youths are fun little rifles with more capabilities than you’d think. No spring adjustments or anything really, just point of aim.

Do you think you will be the only one in the Alabama woods? Human populations really didn’t grow till we progressed past the hunter gatherer stage into large scale agriculture. If that goes away, we are talking massive famine...

A semi-automatic .22 is the "do everything gun" for the apocalypse. Sure, it isn't particularly excellent at anything except developing shooting skills, but from a cost effective standpoint you can take small game, larger game if you can stomach the consequences (obviously, survival situation) and defend yourself in a pinch.

No other choice gives you the range and breadth of options that a semi .22LR gives you - from being able to carry 1000s of rounds relatively lightly, shoot near or far, suppressable, ubiquity, etc. The 10/22 take down or frankly, just a slung 10/22 is going to be a great option here.

For conversation sake, a 357 lever action would be a good choice. You can use light 38 special loads for small game, while 357 out of a 16" barrel will get you close to 30-30 ballistics for larger critters. Also could use ammo interchangeable with your sidearm.

If you want something powerful that's takedown, Browning made a BLR takedown.

Here's one in 308 Browning BLR Lightweight 81 Takedown 308 Win

Mosin Nagant for the win. I would keep the bayonet on at all times b/c reloading is a bit slower than AR 15’s.

That browning blr is sweet though not ideal for what I want I may have to get one for the collection for other purposes. Probably going to end up with an ar pistol and folding brace. This gun will need to fit in a standard backpack. May also throw a Henry survival rifle in the pack as well along with a handgun then this pack would handle all situations

If you are going AR pistol less than 10" go with .300blk

Better yet, forget the AR pistol and get an AK pistol. Great round out of a short barrel.

My 22lr AR is an amazingly fun rifle but is not nearly accurate enough for me to hunt small game with. If it had to break down I guess if take a 10/22.

If prefer a Henry lever 22 because you can shoot any type of 22 ammo out of it. Shorts. Colibri. Super Colibri. CB caps. Quiets. Stingers. Hyper. Subsonic. Standard velocity. Etc.

22 quiets out of a lever gun is quieter than my suppressed 22 pistol.
