Looking to either add a take down carbine or ar pistol to the collection. Gun will most likely stay in a bag ready to gtfo. I have entertained the 10/22 takedown, Henry survival rifle for their small game harvest benefits. Others up for consideration are the ruger pcc carbine that can be coupled with a glock pistol for ammo and magazine interchangeability. Lastly the ar pistol. Would like to get the boards opinion/recommendations

Any would be fine. Just depends on what you want really.

.22 would be better for small game and sound.
AR pistol would be better for bigger game and self defense.
9mm would be ok for self defense.

ETA: I'd probably lean more to an AR pistol in .223 or 6.5 grendel

I've got The henry AR-7, and it's light, easy to have several Mags ready to go, but it's easy to damage. Ruger Take Down 10-22 is probably a better choice.

why is everyone saying 300blk. those rounds are expensive and not in great abundance. if you were to really need to bugout i would want a gun that shot the more readily available ammo out there. .22, 9mm, .223

223 in a 7.5” barrel? No thanks.

I know a guy who bought a couple thousand rounds of 300BLK at .33/rd so no problem there.

Where are you going to go? Do you think a land owner is going to let a bunch of preppers squat on their land and kill all their critters? I won't! That will be the battle within the war!

and makes the least noise, In a really bad situation, you can use the CB rounds in the .22, get some small game if you have patience and nobody will hear you unless they are very close.

I personally own a decent sized tract of land with live creek 15 miles from my home. Has 600 gallon cistern cap with solar powered pump. Also have an RV there just need to get to the property when shite goes south. Also only one way in with a motorized vehicle and there are plenty trees to fell at the gate in need be. Bag is more for the trip as I work out of town. Been meaning to throw a bag together for years and just never got off my arse.

and then the end of the world happens you will run out of those in a year or 2. while you can store 10x the amount of .22 for 1/33 the cost.

Leaning heavily to 10/22 Takedown
As I plan to have a handgun in there as well for protection. Not to mention the 10/22 can be used for personal protection in a pinch.

22 rifle with subs. If it hits the fan I will thin the corn fed Coon population at my lease with vengeance.

I prefer a tube fed .22 since they hold lots of ammo and can generally shoot shorts interchangeable with LR

1. How the freak is my friend going to survive if he’s shooting thousands of .30 caliber rounds at something?
2. Did you not see I stated 22 in original reply?
