I follow them on Fb and the information they are cranking out due to gps and drone capabilities has taught me a ton of stuff or disproved what I thought I knew about deer and how they act.
I used to love seeing big hardwoods and nice open bottoms you could see 150yd through now I hate them

I talked to a man on the levee in Chicot County AR that was tracking a buck and he said he swam the River and was 15 miles into Arkansas.

I love the people that think timber harvests ruin the deer hunting in an area, because that's less competition for me in those areas.

Mostly wrong, but a few truths.

I saw this when they published it a couple weeks ago. Confirmed alot of things we already know. One thing that stuck out to me was they were very clear and definitive when saying moon cycle has absolutely no affect on deer movement.

How can radio collared deer be wrong? It’s literally telling you what deer are doing. Sorry your paw paw taught you a bunch of shite that’s not accurate.

Still love them, they just need to be up against an impenetrable thicket of cover

It’s a 12 minute read, not a 500 page summer reading assignment

Bucks walk 3x as far in a day in the rut as the rest of the year

I think the biggest thing I’ve taken away from my own experience and this study is that bucks are like people. They’re all individuals. They do some stuff the same (food, water, cover, mating) but they also have a lot of differences. The truth about this study is it confirms there’s very little hard truths

I remember seeing a Todd Masson video where he talks about the legend of the sow speckled trout that "come in to spawn on the full moon in May".

And he's like: Come in from where?

And: speckled trout spawn pretty much continously all summer if salinity is right. The moon doesn't have anything to do with it.

I've also seen this study done on where turkeys roost. And the answer is: pretty close to where they end up when it's getting dark.

They roost all over the freaking place. Sometimes they roost in a 12 yo pine plantation when there's a beautiful hardwood bottom overlooking a creek like 100 yards away.

The more you learn, the more you realize how little you know. I think that's a fairly common lesson in life...

True. My old boss would always plan his vacation on the full moon in May to head to brand isle. I showed him studies showing moon made no difference but he refused to believe

And don’t forget that trout eat croakers because croakers eat the trout eggs! As if a trout makes a nest and protects it

Very true, but a lot of the study is common sense. Hunt all day not 2-3 hours and you’ll see more deer. Deer notice hunting pressure, so when they hear 7 4 wheelers and side by sides crank up 30 minutes before legal shooting time Saturday and Sunday they’ll likely move less into food plots than a Wednesday with no 4 wheeler.

I did get a kick out of thinking about deer vacations and summer homes.
