I have a friend who wants to boil crawfish. He asked me if he can dump the boiled crawfish in his yeti cooler without damaging the yeti. I said he might damage the seal from the heat or possibly melt the plastic coating. Can he put hot boiled crawfish in a yeti cooler without fear of damage?

Feedback is appreciated.

Eta: this is a real yeti, not an RTIC like most people have.

Thanks again OB

Nah he’s good. I just did some this weekend and dumped a partial sack in mine after cooked. Had all of my cooked veggies in another one. I think they even recommend using it for hot foods too.

Why use a 300 dollar ice chest to hold crawfish even a $20 one will do the trick?

Why go buy a $20 ice check to hold crawfish when the $300 one you have will work just fine?

Why complain so much about what type of ice chest another man has

The only time the OB acts like the OT is when the word ice chest comes up

Why buy a 300 dollar one to begin with?

Just to be clear, I have two Yeti's and an RTIC and the RTIC is literally just as good. Yes you can put hot crawfish in either, atleast I have, I would leave it open for a while after you put them in, or atleast lift the flaps up to keep it from closing all the way.

Good chance the oils from the crawfish will stain the inside of the yeti

this is true. maybe just lay them all out on a table and avoid the ice chest route all together if they are concerned about messing up the ice chest. Or buy a few Styrofoam ones.

I got a cheap Igloo for crawfish cause they stain the frick out of an ice chest if you don’t wash that thing out quickly. Sure not putting crawfish in my Yeti, but it will work with no damage.

I know crawfish will stain RTIC coolers.

My question is, will hot crawfish stain or tarnish the plastic on a YETI cooler.

Did you catch these crawfish yourself? If so what’s your method of choice?

I did catch them myself. You’re not going to believe what I use for bait, but since this is the OB I will let you in on a little secret. 3 large pieces of Human shite in each trap does the trick.
