Right. Why do they need to go in a cooler?

This is the way. I have never understood why anyone would put them in an ice chest. All that will accomplish is causing them to continue to cook, making them mushy, and staining an ice chest.

Pour them on the table, and get to eating.

If you're trying to keep them hot because you have shifts of guests arriving, time out your batches better, or, you can even take cold crawfish and drop them back in the hot water for a few minutes to heat them back up.

Save the ice chest for the beer.

I have a couple ice chest specifically for this.

The heat will expand and blow out a normal ice chest.

It's a lot cleaner putting it in the ice chest and people using trays. Dumping it on table then you got juice dropping everywhere.

Drain the basket for a couple of minutes before you dump them. Use newspaper over plastic table cloths on the tables. Problem solved. When everyone's done, roll up the table cloth, newspaper, and shells, slide it all in to a contractor grade garbage bag.

Done.

It's a crawfish boil, not a 5 course meal at a banquette. There's gonna be a little mess.

Always drain the basket while letting them cool for a few minutes. Most of the leakage actually comes from the crawfish when you peel. It's worse with crabs. And if your table isn't perfectly level it drains to one spot. Newspaper or not it will leak off.

Rarely have a level crawfish table. I’ve moved away from the newspaper and get those puppy pee pads when I think about them. Best way to stop the spillage.

Even if you have a Yeti, you’re telling me you don’t have a regular ice chest you could put them in? I’ve got all kinds of ice chests.... even shitty ones. I’m sure you can find something to put crawfish in.

My uncle uses those.

Myself we use the roung trays that restaurants use. If you dump them out on the table people eat more.

I put them in a cooler, I just take a beer can and prop it open so steam can release, the scooping em out keeps releasing the heat..they wont overcook, they will stay warm, they will be just fine.

The heat from the crawfish will eventually warp the yeti & it will certainly stain it. I would imagine the only person dumber than a yeti owner is the one that would use it for crawfish. They probably would also need to be told to vent it so the crawfish don’t overcook. Good luck to “your friend “
