Depends on your turkey numbers for the bobcat.
I wouldn’t shoot the fox.

The only legal harvest of a fox ( Louisiana) is trapping

Bobcat gets it more often than not. Fox always gets a pass. I had one try to take my sammich out of my hand in colorado.

I’ll never shoot either unless I decided to try the meat. My buddies hurt the deer and turkey population so I do t use that excuse to kill them. I’ve seen two bobcats in the swamp and they’re majestic. Truly a beautiful and skilled creature

Nope. Coop is a different story.

The first I saw one in the wild was while sitting in a tree stand many moons ago. It walked under me and when it came across my trail walking in, it stopped.
While sitting in the knee-high winter brown grass/weeds and 20ish yards away, I could not see it. Only when it twitched its ear, I could make it out. Otherwise, it blended in perfectly with the grass and damned near invisible.
I have never shot one. However, I understand situations where they need to be thinned. I hold no grudges to those who need to take them out.
Besides, as we have seen here on the OB, they make great mounts.

Bobcat yes. They eat fawns.
Fox no. I've watched a fox and a deer eat corn together.

I shot a fox once. I was younger and had just gotten a new rifle and scope. I was sighted in a ready to bag a deer with my new setup. During my first hunt of the season, early in the afternoon, two foxes came out and were playing along the edge of my field in front of some thickets. I felt like I was watching a Disney movie as they were rolling around, kicking up dust and just play fighting. I watched them for about 15 mins through my scope and eventually decided to check the accuracy of my gun. I smoked one from about 200 yards and he dropped. His buddy sat there next to him wondering why he was laying on the ground; he must've stayed around for another 30 mins. I felt terrible but didn't want to just waste the animal totally so I decided to mount it. The taxidermist said I did too much damage for a full body mount but I was able to get the hide tanned and it came out beautiful. I probably won't shoot another one again.
I will however smoke a bobcat whenever I see one.

Folks in Louisiana should keep in mind that, unless you’re trapping, legal take for hunting is 1 bobcat per calendar year.

Don’t post your fox killed with your 6.5 Creedmoor to facebook. If you’re going to shoot a fox, be sure you have a trapping license and it’s during the trapping season using something like a 22LR and when you post it on Facebook caption the photo “look what I caught.”

Nope. Plenty of people would kill them so I give them a pass and just enjoy watching them.
