This will be my first time buying a boat from a dealer, I was looking at either the Element m15 or Tahoe T16. Has any OTer dealt with either of these two boats or brands and does anyone have a good recommendation what dealer in the Louisiana area to deal with. Also, is it custom for most boat dealers to have their boats considerably higher than the MSRP on the boats website.

You’ll get better answers on the outdoor board

I have both of these as lifeboats for my superyacht. Both are quality lifeboats.

Better to get one from an individual and not a dealer

Bigly depends on who the individual is. I've seen boats absolutely destroyed by neglectful and/or incompetent owners.

Element is a weak boat. Tahoe not so bad.

I bought a 2017 Element to run around the river. 75 Merc.
Solid so far, but my only comment is definitely don’t get the 60HP as the 75 is ok, but I wish it has a little more umph.
Overall I really like it, but it has limitations so as long as you’re just looking to pull a few kids in calm water on a tube etc. it’s fine, but a bunch of adults or any chance of rough water, you need bigger.

Just trying to run around the lake, I don’t have a family, so it’ll just be me and friends. I’ve had a shuttle craft jet ski/boat combo before and enjoyed the small boat that I can easily tow and store at my house plus I’m not trying to blow a small mortgage on a boat.

Not for either of those boats they don’t. Either of those probably won’t qualify for the 240

Be sure to test ride anything you consider buying. Especially on choppy water. Pay attention to deadrise.

There has probably been worse times to buy a boat but I can not think of any, the market much like the housing market is just stupid high. Manufactures are back ordering parts left and right so supply is terrible and demand is super high, pre owned market is just as bad. May want to consider waiting things out a bit, shite will hit the fan eventually and when it does there are going to be a lot of toys for sale.
