Boat recommendations

Buying lake house and starting boat process. Would probably be looking at a deck boat similar to a Tahoe brand. 21 ft or less. Mostly to drive family and friends around, pull tube and maybe occasionally fish out of if possible. Thanks

I’d run away fast from a Tahoe unless they’ve improved drastically.
You may want to check out something like the E series Crownline, Hurricane, or maybe Starcraft but watch the gelcoat.

Best advise is to not buy a boat from bass Pro

Bute the bullet and buy a party barge.
If you think you might fish, you probably won't. Party barges are well suited for...partying.

A good rule of thumb.
OP, get a party barge.

Size limit is based on the lift I’ll be working with. In a cove and is a shore station lift. I could get a pontoon and store on side of walkway since I have mooring rights but then I’d I’ve to store in winter.

Those bunks are adjustable. Could probably put a barge on there.

Better check capacity before putting anything on it heavier than a jet ski.

Yeah. Not sure I’d trust that with much more than aluminum flat

I had a Crownline for a year or so when I decided I wanted to see what “boat riding” was all about. Very nice build quality, good materials, well done.
I think they are under priced because they are a Midwest builder and everyone wants a Chapparal or Sea Ray.
Great boat. If I ever have a lake house, I would get another Crownline.
<- I own 2 offshore boats, a bay boat, a mudboat, and my paw paw’s McKee. I do all my own work- fiberglass included. So I’m kinda boat snooty. Saying all that compliment again how highly I thought of the Crownline.

Be sure to test ride anything before buying. I did not when I bought a Tahoe. Roughest ride ever. Pay attention to the deadrise spec. Tahoe flattened out in the back giving the harsh ride. I had a Wellcraft years ago that rode like a dream. Champion as well. Great design all the way back.

I had one for 15yrs, and had friends w/ several others. There were some bad years, but overall the 2000-2010 build years were pretty solid. I think the next 5-7ish had some problems but they’ve seemed to reel that back in.
I’ve been by the factory and talked w/ their public relations person a few times. Nice people.
Have a bud who just picked up a 1997 266BR w/ a 454. Freaking thing looks brand new. I know that’s old, but the lines hold up today and if it’s taken care of, they are typically great boats.

Pontoon boats are the tits. The enjoyment of being able to cruise around in a comfortable chair and still having a normal conversation on the water is underrated.

Tri-toon ftw and yes they are very underrated.
Looking at that get up, I don’t think you’re going to be able to put any full size boat on it. Width and height are lacking as are the legs.

Yep...tahoe isn't good for fishing. There really is no good ski boat that makes a good fishing boat.
Party barge probably best option. I'd look for a newer tri-toon with bigger engine than can easily pull the kids tubing.
