The difference between dropping an anchor and pushing a button for a powerpole is pretty big when fishing. Two powerpoles, even nicer, I'd think.

You mentioned that you have an hds9, so obviously you can relate with spending money on equipment... some to keep up and impress, other just cause it seems "needed". Either way, gives us a reason to go to work...

SOP for trucks and boats is, if they keep buying them we keep raising prices, when they stop buying we start lowering prices until they start buying them again.

the idiots willing to buy them at any price are the reason boats and trucks are selling for $60k

you can have a frame off restoration or a custom built boat done just how you want it for $40k so who is the fool?

I bought a 20 foot bass boat with a 115 strait out of college. Had no buisness with that boat. Moved to MS, A morgage and a preg wife later I sold it at a 4000.00 loss and was damn excited to see it leave.

Now 12 years later I am paying cash next week for an older used 18 foot Bass Tracker and a 40 hp merc. It will not turn any heads but that bitch is mine and when my my buddy gets a little dip spit on the carpet or my son runs us over a stump Im just gonna smile and make another cast.

Because of the long financing. I knew a guy who made $15/hr but has a really nice boat because of credit score.
I think a ten year loan.

I walked around the boat show all day and nearly all the financing break downs were in 20 year terms. I shite you not.

Last summer, at one of our grandson's little league games, a senior gentlemen, even more senior than I, had parked his rig and truck to watch his grandson play. This boat was LOADED. I complimented him on it and said it's nice but I could never afford anything like that at my age, especially. He said, " I can't either, but it's financed for 20 years and I want to have something nice while I'm able to enjoy it. I'll be dead and gone before it's paid off. Then they can just come and get it."

Boat financing is an interesting argument.

Some say its a luxury that should be enjoyed when you have the means to do it.

Others argue that you should enjoy it while you have your health, and your kids are young.

And that guy's argument is just as legit, saying, if not now, when?

Like most things in life, you don't know another man's logic.

We all fantasize about the family out on the water and great times and such but when you are paying 350 a month after insurance its hard to enjoy it. Then god forbid you need some repairs then you are paying a note on a boat that you cant use or is in the shop.

If a guy has got the scratch then by all means but the average working class weekend warrior needs to step back and take a deep breath. If you cant put 20% down on whatever boat you are looking at you need to keep walking.

I would personally say a lot more down than that. It’s not a house. BUT, more power to anyone that does it by whatever means they want. I won’t hate them for it.

Have you seen what 1/2 ton pickups are fetching these days?

Should be no surprise about boats getting sky high.

I agree thats minimum. When shopping around this year I considered going big again for about 5 minutes. After I came back to reallity having cash in hand and owning the rig I found outright felt so damn good.

This thread only proves the saying that if it flies, floats, or fricks, rent it is gospel. I would really enjoy having my own boat because I love fishing Big Lake, Sabine, and East Bay and would love to fish them whenever I wanted but then I see threads about what bay boats go for and I then gladly give my money to a guide and save $$$$$$ and I actually catch more fish plus no boat storage either.

With these prices, I don't know why there aren't more baws going in as a group and splitting those costs.

I know a few people who have gone halves with their dad/brother.

Its rediculous but when you can make an $80k sell price + interest over a 10/20 year term and theyre still flying off the lot, the dealers would be dumb to cut prices. Boats have become a major dick measuring stick.

No. A lot of dumbasses who have no problem financing a boat for 240 months.

I could possibly understand financing a boat for 48 months if I absolutely had to finance a toy that expensive but anything more than that is ludicrous unless you knew you were about to die and it was gonna be reprocessed after you were gone.
