the Taurus G2C.
Was at a gun shop last year and spotted one of these for 170.00. Felt good in my hands, so I bought it. I carry a Glock 26 for my EDC but wouldn't hesitate EDCing the G2. Sent about 2k rounds through it with no problems.

PSA has the Smith & Wesson shield 9mm W/O safety for $259.00, they are offering a $50 rebate . Final price $209

I agree. I have a Ruger LCR .38 +P with home defense rounds.
Small hole going in and spaghetti coming out.
Easy carry in your pocket, soft rubber grip and no hammer.

These guys annoy me but
They make an argument that you may want to listen to.
I have no experience with Taurus pt111

For some reason this reads like you live in Somalia or something lol. How often do you hear something at night that requires grabbing a shotgun?
Is that a modded 870?

The $209 is before tax and shipping, correct? Smoky Mountain has the 9mm w/safety for $249 ($199 after rebate) with no shipping or tax.
Shield $199

I recently bought a Ruger EC9S from Smokey Mountain with fast free shipping and no tax for $199. They also sent me a free gun case.

How does shipping work? They send it to a local shop for you to pick up?
Posted on 10/22/19 at 7:26 pm to TheGator
And your shop will probably charge some sort of fee, anywhere from $15 to $35. I'm fortunate to live close to an FFL that doesn't.

Price, quality, not going to cc, need some capacity = Canik Elite.

I have a Taurus PT-111 Millennium that my brother gave me for free. It's have no complaints with it. There was a recall/buyback due to a class action lawsuit for that model that ended prior to me getting it.
The lawsuit alleged that nine Taurus handgun models had a faulty design that allowed the pistol to inadvertently fire when dropped or to be discharged when the safety feature was still on.
The recall included nine of their more popular handgun models manufactured between 1997-2013, namely:
Taurus PT 111 Millennium
Taurus PT-132 Millennium
Taurus PT-138-Millennium
Taurus PT-140 Millennium
Taurus PT-145 Millennium
Taurus PT-745 Millennium
Taurus PT-609
Taurus PT-640
Taurus PT-24/7

KB,
It's an iteresting question you pose. Basically, you'll need to find your personal "sweet spot", factoring in cost, reliability, mag capacity, size, ease of use and your intended purpose (how much home defense gun vs. how much cc, if at all). You'll need to decide which gun traits are more important to you since you're asking one tool to do different jobs. In general, for a home defense gun I usually recommend full size instead of compact, high mag capacity (usually a double stack mag) instead of smaller mag capacity (usually single stack mag) and DAO or striker fired semi-auto instead of revolver (IF you're comfortable w/ a semi-auto). Good examples would be Glock M17 or M19, S&W M&P series, Springfield Armory XD series, Ruger American series, certain Sigs/Berettas and many others. I own the Taurus G2c and Canik TP9SF that have been mentioned. I've had good experiences w/ both. If choosing between just those two, I'd choose the Canik for home defense and the Taurus for cc. I bought my Taurus for <$200 while the Canik was much more. I have reviews of both on the OB if you're interested. I'll be using the Taurus for cc this year while deer hunting. Keep us updated w/ your decision.

Sup kingbob,
Not sure your price point but the Smith m&p shield is a great buy.....
But..
If you must have a pistol then find a used Glock. The confidence is there. Goes bang always.
If you don't need a pistol get a cheap pump youth 20g. Great home defense gun. Short barrel. Goes bang. Kills dead. Wife/kids can shoot.
Good luck.

Anyone have experience with this and Taurus GTC?
I have old 38 revolver, but thinking about getting something semi-auto to keep by the nightstand. Will probably only shoot a handful of times a year. Advantages or disadvantages to either?
