Ohio and western Kentucky are good places and cheaper than going west. Hell, you can get 5 tags and hunt public land in Ohio.

If you do Kansas rifle I hope you can handle cold. @ years ago opening morning it was -20 and like 40 mph wind. Cant imagine being on a paid hunt and having those tough conditions.

Kansas. It is the most boring state in the union, aesthetically, but it produces some studs. Also, I recommend grabbing a doe tag or two. It's the best tasting deer I've ever eaten, because they basically eat like cattle up there.

My In-Laws live in Ohio right on the edge of a state forest. There's some great deer around and you can hunt for around $100 bucks. There's only a 1 week, shotgun only gun season, but bow season is open just as long as ours.

Pretty much any large forested area in Ohio is public land, with very few exceptions. My first hunt ever with FIL, I killed two does (one 160lbs and the other 190 lbs) before noon.

I probably saw 20 or 30 deer that day. There were a few nice bucks, but none ever came close enough.

[link=( https://wildlife.ohiodnr.gov/wildlifeareas)]Ohio Public Land[/link] The In-Laws live right by the Killdeer Plains state forest. Just northwest of Marion. But you can see that anywhere in the state you can find public land to hunt.

I know people who have gone to Indiana and just gone from farm to farm. They shot a man compared to what you shoot in South Louisiana

This is central Georgia. The problem with growing Southern deer is were allowed to rifle hunt for 3 months. Most Midwest states have a limited rifle or none at all. If you can maintain a big enough lease to limit pressure and keep em fed, you can grow big deer down south.
