If you bow hunt, go Midwest or South Dakota.
Rifle, anywhere in TX west of I35 or MS/LA along river from Woodville/Angelina north to Greenville/Lake Providence.

I know a guy who hunts in Chopin behind Louisiana Pecans. It's a refuge back there, and he kills monsters every year. It butts up against his property. I wish I had pictures... Big, big deer every year. The reserve was dmap for a very long time but has just recently in the past 5 years opened up to the public but not many know about it. Bow only. And it's free...
Monster bucks and all the ducks you can shoot.

No, the land behind his property is Government property and anyone can go... I just don't think anyone knows about it except the locals.
It's a goldmine! We have never, not killed deer, hogs, ducks or coyotes.

His property is 2000 acres connecting to this property and another 9000 acres of dmap.
He's fine, trust me!
It's hard work hunting a refuge and many don't attempt it. Lots of scouting and walking. But that's how you find the big boys without paying big dollars.
We kill plenty of deer and its ok if others hunt the adjoining properties. It is public land... And he wouldn't mind the heavy traffic pushing animals onto his property.
