Just wondering who everyone is using? I did a search but seems like a lot of the info is old.

Advanced Weapon Systems closed
Barking Irons Closed
Sulzer not accepting new transfers at this time

Just went through this same effort for a transfer. Everyone's going to say Sulzer, which is fine, except that their website says "Not accepting new incoming transfers at this time"

Maybe call to verify that but it's been up there a while now, though wasn't up when I first inquired.

Sulzer doesn't do FFL transfers any longer.

If you are a member at Precision, they charge $25 (which is fairly reasonable).

Unfortunately, non-members pay $40 (which is unreasonable).

Call some of the pawn shops near you. They are usually the cheapest.

Ah well that's not really surprising.

Try LA Gun & Reloading. $30 transfer fee

Bayou Gun Slingers in Denham is $20.

Call them and tell them that you are transferring something. They will get you to send the email asking for their FFL to them and they will handle it from there.

(For the websites that don't already have them on file)

My mistake. I meant Bayou Gun Slingers.

I will fix my previous post to stop any confusion.

I'm not sure why he isn't doing transfers anymore, but the last time I tried to get a transfer done though him lining up a time to meet him at the shop was a chore.

Louisiana Gun and Reloading Supply is one of the better ones. They will have the gun logged in and call quickly unlike some that make you wait, sometimes for days.

Are you suggesting that FFLs initiate the hold vs BATFE/FBI?

No I'm saying some FFls will drag arse when they receive your firearm and take forever to call you so you can go to their location and fill out the paperwork and pick it up.

Like others have mentioned above with Sulzer. You can have a firearm delivered to the FFL and still have to wait days. I personally have had to wait a week at Sulzer before.

With LA Gun and Reloading they usually call within the hour of the firearm being delivered, I've had them call within 10 minutes.

That kind of service is worth a few extra bucks for me. They are also convenient to me, I'm not driving all over to save a few dollars.

I have never left a negative review, especially on an OB baw, but this was my one experience as well.

Most other FFLs do this as well. I have used: Barking Irons, LA Gun and Reloading, Jims, Bayou Gunslingers, Precision, and numerous pawn shops.

ETA: LA Gun and Reloading was my go to for years. I stopped when they raised their rates to $30. One 15 minute phone call and record keeping does not warrant $30, IMO.
