We tried spypoint and we did not get good service and they ate through batteries. We are wanting to get some new ones and they do not have to be cellular. What has the OB had the best luck with? Thank you.

We've had really good luck with these. Browning strike force. We have 8.. Only problem is bears love the antennae's but that will happen with any of the cell cameras.

For cellular, I've really been liking my Tactacam Reveal X. I know plenty here have said the new ones aren't as good as the old ones, but compared to the Spypoint I was used to it's been awesome.

Regular camera, my Browning has been legit. SUPER long battery life.

I love my Cuddebacks. I am a Covert guy but, bought the Cuddeback Cell cameras because I could subtend other cameras on the same bill. Used them in Kansas and in Louisiana. The new software increases the number of subs and allows you to remotely configure the settings.

They are a bit bulky and heavy but, they take great pictures and work great.

We have all our spy point cameras hooked to lawn mower batteries with the 12V cable Spy point sells. Makes a world of difference and they are rechargeable

I have a question if you can answer....
If you have 8 cuddebacks and one has a malfunction.... Does it affect the others in the daisy-chain? I can never get a straight answer..
Oh and how close do they need to be to another one?

I have 4 Stealth Cam Fusion X

one of them crapped out and I sent it back to Midway (they were selling them for a little over $100).
The replaced it, no question.

the other three have been really good so far. Also bought 3 Browning Strike Force Gen 5. Haven't put them out yet. Will get them out this weekend. They're only cameras not cellular.

Spypoint can be good if you figure out all the settings. They are very finicky. They eat through traditional alkaline batteries, gotta have lithium. We have had good success with lithium rechargeable AAs as well as the lithium pack that spypoint sells. Just have to make sure you change battery settings through the app.

Lawn mower batteries

I use spypoints as well. I don’t have issues that aren’t easy to fix. I do like the idea of having longer lasting rechargeable batteries though. How long does a 12v lawnmower battery last?

Man as soon as the quit making the original I knew they were going to frick it all to hell. For once I wish a company would just not get greedy and make a reliable product at a fair price.

I haven't had any problems with the X. Still prefer my original one though lol

I bought the moultrie modems for 10 bucks off Moultrie site before last year. Hooked them up to my regular moutrie cams. Have worked perfect for almost two years. Moultries app is really easy and works great. Other folks run the brownings and love em.

put them on solar panel and they last as long as the sun keeps coming up in the morning. Got one that ran for 10 mos until i took it down.

Our cameras take 1000s of pictures a week. Normal lithium AA was getting between 4-5 days. The lawn Mower batteries get 2 1/2-3 weeks. You get them for 30 bucks or so at Walmart. With having a spare its easy to swap out and charge the other. It saves a lot of money in the long run.

Spypoint had the battery box, wires, and battery for 31.99 shipped. I can buy extra batteries from Amazon for $20 each. Will be an investment up front but saving in the long run.

Yes i have talked to people who own them. It does affect it if one goes down in the daisy chain. If you have 8 cameras numbered 1-8 with 8 being the furthest. And camera 6 goes down, you are only going to get response from cameras 1-5. Even then, i heard the daisy chain isn’t really that great and you wouldn’t want to have more than 2-3 in a chain.

It’s about half the distance they report. Their advertisement is basically in a wide open field. Trees or any obstruction will make a difference. And also if you have them in two bottoms with a ridge in between. (I don’t mean a 6 foot ridge, but anything larger than 15 feet, you will need a repeater on top the ridge.) It can work but you will have fidget with jt a lot until you have it all down. Mainly good for one hunting areas (several cams over 100 acres, not 1000)

Where it can really be a game changer is if you can’t get service in a bottom , you can transmit to the ridge and have it sent to you from the base camera. But not really worth the price to me.

Tactacam works really well. A lot of the gripe about the new one is that it doesn’t get as good of a signal as the first one. This is because of the antenna, if you put a gen 1 antenna or even get a Spartan antenna. It will be a great camera. Plans are a little more on the expensive side, similar to spypoint. My biggest gripe with them is when you add a camera, it can’t be on a separate plan. If you have a camera on unlimited, they all have to be on unlimited. You could remedy this by creating separate accounts , but not really worth logging in and out of each account. So what i did was i put them both in high traffic areas to maximize the “unlimited” plan.

I have 3 spypoints, i relegate them to scouting. If i get a picture , good. If i don’t, then oh well I’ll check the cards later. I have 2 tactacams. A Gen 1 and a X, they both have functioned very well so far. For that price point you can’t beat them.

Next level, i have a ridgetec lookout. Great camera. It will send video or picture and can adjust image quality. I don’t have to get a full HD or a low low res photo. I can set it to what i want to send and it takes “points” to get the image. Also the camera is interchangeable from Verizon, Att, and T-Mobile. All i have to do is switch the SIM card and activate the carrier. Camera is pretty much 3x the price, but if you have multiple of them then it can be cheaper in the long run because you buy a plan that all the cameras share. The additional cost per camera is 6 dollars.

Can’t believe it’s not in here for the best yet. Spartan in my opinion has nothing close to it. They take beautiful pictures, are built well and have excellent customer support if something breaks. I have 8 out for the last 3 years. Had one issue sent it back had a new camera in 10 days.

I have tried SPYPOINT, covert, and cuddle back I don’t think they are close to Spartan. SPYPOINT is absolute garbage.

My Strike Force worked flawlessly for several months until we took it down for the Springtime floods. Pretty cool to sit in my recliner in Baton Touge and see pictures of deer and turkeys (and coons of course) in the feeder in a remote area over 4 hours away.
