You really meant just one blind at Dave's Bayou.

Pretty spot on write up on Mecca. I started my Okie/KS expedition last year btw, but my best hunting has been back in SE TX.

Class Act? lol Johnny Wink is a POS. You obviously haven't seen his latest blow up on social media, cussing clients lower than a dog. He's lucky he didn't receive a good country arse whoopin! And his place is a gar hole. Guy makes a living on sky bustings a few specks and hollywoods.

I'm not sure it is true or not but I heard you can buy in to deer hunt at McGowen Brake but only thee family have the rights to duck hunt. Any truth to that?

No doubt it is changing times for duck hunting in Louisiana - and it ain’t for the better.

Sounds like a direct quote from about 1986?

Greenhead, did we get a definitive answer? I was interested in the ranking.

I would think the Coastal Club would have to be in there somewhere.

Not these days. We did better near White Lake than Coastal Club did this year.

ETA: There were also some places between Forked Island and Pecan Island that held mallards for most of the year. I didn't get to go so I'm not sure exactly where they are hunting but every report I heard they did well.

Very good friend that is involved with the Bayou Club on Verm Corp reports the worst season in 10 years.

I had an excellent season hunting nothing but public land not in Louisiana. I had access to a phenomenal lease for most of my life in Pecan Island and it’s crazy that the public hunting in some states is better than what I experienced in South La, for mallards at least. And a whole lot cheaper.

Yep, no ducks at all in Bordelonville and deer hunting is even worse.

Somebody needs to post the Wink video. Although he’s a huge arse, it’s pretty entertaining.

I left out Whan and Salt Lake

Salt Lake - when managed properly and mallards are in the area, you can have a beautiful hunt. Reports there have been poor this year but I have not been out there in years.

Wham - it is a damn rodeo out there - I will never hunt out there again - too dangerous - I get to hunt in an adjacent piece of property with a blind - it has tailed off from years past - this year has been not too bad because rainwater has worked its magic - I want to see a dry fall and winter with the new water control measures in place.

If any of you baws can get gator tags for that area, get them and do it. There are some monster alligators in that area.

All that said, I am probably packing it in and booking some hunts Kansas or Oklahoma with my buddies rather than any more leases.
