Well it's about that time baws. Final practice day is tomorrow and tourney kicks off Friday. Weathers been bright, sunny and warming trend all week, should be very interesting as alot of fish will be making their final moves to spawn, or awful close by weeks end.

So who you fella's like to win it all, let's hear the picks.

(Myself, I'm going with Steve Kennedy or Jason Christie, with strings from up the Tugaloo River somewhere... )

PS.... 51 lbs to win

Yep Tyler made it. Had to get in after someone didn't waukify at an open. But he's in and that's all that he cares about.

Swindle or Scott Martin.

I think Swindle is way past due to win a classic. Also this is the main reason Martin came over to BASS. I look for guys that are motivated and either of them could do it I think.

.....that said, the way this lake fishes it could be anyone.

I realize it's still the biggest tournament in the sport but................The shear amount of no names with zero skins on the wall fishing it now has taken much luster off this event. I'll be checking in because I'm a bass geek but it's not even close to what it was just 4 years ago.

Excuse my ignorance, but can angler fish both MLF events and Bassmasters events?

Yeah, but some of the highest league events overlap. Last week you had Fork for BPT and Harris chain overlapping days.
Last year there was one guy who legit did the Elites and BPT but I think BASS wouldn't let him drop a tournament even tho others could for "covid" so he missed the Classic

Look for a deep water, electronics guy to win it: Walters or Ito come to mind.

2 weeks ago i would have agreed.
It's been sunny all week and wil continue. Lows in the high 30's and low 40's but daytime highs creeping up all week. Tomorrow will hit 80 as well as Friday I believe. Big spots will matter but this one will be won on the banks or on secondary shelvees/points going up into the sloughs/creeks where largemouth will be staging , if not already getting ready to spawn.
Water temps two weeks ago 51-52 all over the lake....Up to 58/59 last I heard and that was before today and yesterdays 75 deg plus days.

Gonna be a shootout, that's for sure.

I lived on hartwell from 07-12. In those years, there were plenty of big girls shallow by early March.

I’ll bet someone does well shallow or just off docks in staging areas.

The shear amount of no names with zero skins on the wall

KVD was a no-name at one point in his career.

Yep but when he was I was watching. Denny Brauer . Ruck Clunn, Hank Parker , Roland Martin, jimmy Houston, Larry Nixon, Guido ……. this circuit and this tournament is as watered down as its ever been. When the top 80 superstars of any sport leave you this is what you get. Like I said I’ll be checking in but …….

BPT took big names. But some came back. Times are changing. These young guns will be household names in the future. They are all studs on the water. It takes serious continuous high level fishing to not only make it to the elites, but stay there, and get a classic spot. These are some of the best period whether you know their name or not.
