I have a 5x10 utility trailer and also the bed of my truck. I like not lugging a trailer around, but taking the 4 wheeler on/off the trailer is so easy. I have a 16 f150 and it sags bad with the 4 wheeler in back. Rear tires sit on the tailgate. I'm thinking I should get a 3/4 ton with the 6.5 ft bed, but just to haul a 4 wheeler? Doesn't make sense. What is everyone's tried and true way to get your 4 wheeler where you want to go?

You can get a half ton with a full size bed in a crew cab. My biggest regret was not getting that when I got my last truck.

Those are pretty much your options.

Use a small trailer, put in your short bed, or get a bigger truck with a longer bed.

I would just use the trailer.

I will haul mine in the bed of my truck over pulling a trailer 7 days a week unless extra room is needed. I have a roll out bed cover so I can pull up as far and that keeps my rear tires pretty much on the tail gate too, no worries. Some worry about safety when loading but I have a good set of ramps, put the e brake on before loading the atv and also hook the safety straps on the ramps. If you’re worried about the squat while the Atv is in the back you could do an add a leaf to your springs or air bags (better option). I agree, a 3/4 ton just to haul a bike isn’t worth it IMO.

What size four wheeler do you have? My foreman doesnt squats my truck at all but then again it's not a found on road dead.

Fyi put a glass rack protector if you decide to haul it in the back.

Quad Cab Tundra (pretty much the equivalent of a 3/4 ton) and I haul my ATV in the bed. But I have a Yamaha 250 model that fits in the bed without rear wheels needing to rest on the tail gate. Hauling an ATV in the bed was a consideration when I bought the truck. Never considered putting in or taking off the ATV as a hindrance. Seriously, is a smaller ATV an option, cheaper than a new truck.

Should've checked the payload capacity before buying. Get a better truck next time

Can Am Outlander 570 XT. 83" long and 744lbs with a full tank of gas. I usually just use my trailer, but it's nice being able to park and drive around like normal. Might do the airbags.

LOL wut?

Weakest V8 engine in any full size truck. Same frame as any other 1/2 ton. Brakes too small.

I rather carry in back of truck, but mine doesn't have any noticeable sag either. I carry a 700 grizzly which isn't the heaviest, but still quite a heavy bike. Is your truck 2wd? That may be why it sags some. I have a 2011 f150 4wd. and yes the rear tires sit on the tailgate, but it seems to be able to handle the load cause I have driven 4.5 hours in one day with it like that and it held up.

No its 4wd. I have 315/70r17 KM3 tires that are load range E. It has the tow package with the 3.55 axle ratio. I also have a Roadmaster Active Suspension kit on it. Just a lot of weight on the arse I guess. It is worse because the front is leveled 2.25" and the Outlander bumper comes to a point, so I cant pull it in too far or I will bust my glass.

I suggest you compare it to an f150.

You may be surprised.

Also, that v8 makes more torque at 2000 rpm lower. 401 vs 400 peak. But at low rpm it is 160ftlbs higher.

You conveniently left out peak HP.

1TQ does not outweigh 14HP.

I believe I have found my issue. After doing research and emailing shock manufacturers i believe i experienced shock fade which caused substantial sag. When I first loaded the ATV it was almost level. After riding in the truck for about 6 hours and going down many gravel forest service roads my truck was sitting on its arse.

During hunting season my rancher stays in the bed of my truck. 8ft bed 1 ton .. occasional trip to the lease I'll pull the trailer .. I prefer not to pull a trailer too many things can go wrong..
