I believe they are usually open to the public on a couple of days, and they may have shut those down due to COVID but not sure.

Cant use your own targets?

I had these very questions myself. Google Earth measures it at 100 yards. You have to buy targets from the range. They appear to have a bow range with an elevated platform to simulate shooting from a stand as well.

Yeah, probably the way they'll try to get some money from all the folks that can go there and shoot for free (parish residents, local law enforcement, veterans, etc.).

They have quite a number of different targets.

They allow for shotgun shooting at targets as close as 20 yds on the pistol range, as well.

Whats the deal with the range behind the Ascension School Board Warehouse on Airline in Sorrento? Google earth looks like there is a rifle range and a skeet course.

Address is 9690 Airline Hwy, Sorrento, LA 70778

I think that's the 4-H range for their shooting team. The AP Sheriff's office range is closed to the public due to COVID.

You can try Nick's shooting range in Garyville. It's like $15. Kinda small and gets packed, but better than driving to Sherburne.

What are the backstops for gun ranges in south Louisiana? I figured with how flat the terrain is, it has to be more challenging than gun ranges where at least there are hills.

Yup. Been closed due to covid but word around is they are selling the property to a developer to make a neighborhood.

Big dirt berms and you site them so there's nothing downrange. The Iberville Parish range has a big arse field behind the berm then behind that, two miles of wooded lowlands and then behind that, the Atchafalaya Basin in case you launch one.

Yeah. It really sucks. That shooting facility is very nice. I do find it hard to believe that somebody would want to develop it though. The lead remediation is going to cost a fortune.

It's a good thing that humans just figured out how to engineer earthworks just now in the 21st Century!

Otherwise, we wouldn't have gun ranges here in LA.

Haha...just busting chops.

That's going to take a lot of money to clean all that lead to make it safe for a neighborhood.

Yea, that range is the ascension 4-h shooting range. Kids only, and only for club events

When hunters run was still hunters run a company cleaned up the lead in the field. I pretty sure hunters run didn’t pay the company just kept the lead they cleaned up.

Gotcha thanks. I figured it was some type of members only deal since there are no signs.

Glad the kiddos got a nice looking spot to shoot though!

If you're talking about the Sheriff's Office range; I called them in July to see if they were open and they werent. Used to be open on thursdays each month, not sure how often. But they are definitely closed to the public under the Covid stuff. Stupid because you can go to Sherbune WMA and shoot all you want at the range Tues-Sunday.
