Awhile back there was a thread about armadillos evolving to tolerate cold weather and are expanding their range.

I am convinced the bastages are evolving and developing better eyesight.I live in the country with a large yard surrounded by woods. In 23 years I’ve killed 231.
Up in til recently I never saw any indication they could tell I was shining a light on them.

Last summer when I would shine light some would run a distance but they would usually stop and I would shoot.
This year I have 1 that is driving me nuts.I have cell camera set up.It pings and I have a picture.I go out with my .22 and headight and as soon as I shine a light from 100 feet away he takes off. This has happened 3 times.Frustrating as hell.

I don’t call myself Dillo for nothing. Well my problem is I can’t hit the broad side of a barn when I shoot at night. I trap them suckers and relocate.

Aren't they known for carrying leprosy?

The only thing I got out of that is the fact that you have kept up with how many to the exact number you have killed over 23 years lol. I can’t even tell you how many deer I’ve killed over the last five years and I actually like/care about shooting them.

What's the purpose of killing them? I'm not against it, but I just don't know what the purpose is. The ones around here aerate my lawn for free.

I'll never forget when I was a kid and an armadillo was in our garage. My dad was gone on business so my mom went to push the dillo out with a broom. That thing jumped 6 feet in the air, and my mom yelled "they can jump!!!!!" as she threw the broom and ran haha.

Dig a big pit with punji sticks in the bottom. Use some landscape timbers that will funnel him towards it. Shine light, he runs, problem solved.

Smith and wesson .22 AR.

Crappy UTG red dot.

Crappy amazon flashlight attachment.

Sight it in well.

Inside of 45 yards it's point and click.

Or do like me, walk outside with Glock 9mm and streamlight. Shoot at him from 3ft. Miss. Shoot again at 6ft...miss.

Wait until he's running at full clip laterally into the field... Drill him in the arse from 50 yards.

I swear I do better when I just don't think about it.

If you like big holes in your yard. I don't call that aerating, I call it a nuisance.

Maybe some people find it strange that I keep a record.but I find it kind of interesting.Like where do they keep coming from year after year?
They’re not supposed to be that prolific(litter of 4 a year).Constantly see them squashed on the highway.

You really need at least a 308 for Dillos.

And try to break major bone, lest they charge.

They devastate turkey nests and eggs. That's reason enough for me.

I know I have a few around here. Is it worth killing or trapping them? I think I see their little yard-holes, look kinda conical inverted about 6" wide?

I did hear they can carry leprosy but 90pct of Americans are naturally immune. I'd hate to find out I'm in that 10pct.
