Same here, I don't consider Strike King "high-end" but a 8 or 10XD will run you $15 and a Strike King Spinnerbait is over $5. A Bandit crankbait will be right at $7. There's no such thing as a cheap lure.

Can someone explain the difference between these yellow magics and Pop-Rs?

I've only ever seen pics of the YM.

I can't tell the difference between the two without really looking for it. I've heard they sound different to the bass though

I've never used the Yellow Magic, but I did pony up $12 for a Lake Fork Tackle popper. I guess the sound makes a big difference because the bass love that thing. It sounds completely different from a Pop-R, and I have out caught my buddies a lot with it while they are throwing the Rebel.

A long time ago, I spent $20+ on a lucky craft jerk bait. To this day, I've caught 0 fish on it.

As pro frog is probably my most expensive bait now. Untold amounts of fish on that bastard though.

100 dollars?!

I wonder what the action is like with me tying to it with 100 lb braid.

If you really want to talk about expensive baits they have companies that make swimbaits that cost $400

Best I don't know but white always work. Have you ever seen a frog that didn't have a white/light belly?

YM's dont have as much as a cupped front like the pop'rs do. Its more of a spitting popper than a chugging popper. It is my absolute favorite topwater bait.

My favorite way to fish a YM is to make it walk the dog. I also get lots of hits just letting it sit after casting it. The popper kind of shimmies and the feather dances around. I caught my biggest bass on a YM.

You only need two colors IMO. I only throw either a black or white frog. I throw white right at daylight if I'm fishing grass with shad. I'll also throw it on cloudy days in clear water. Other than that I throw black. Black has definitely caught me more fish than white, but I've caught bigger ones on white.

These are the ones I throw. They come with a rattle already in them and the skirt legs are short. They also don't take on water like a Spro.

The first one is a Bobby's Perfect Frog and the other one is an Ish's Phat Frog.

ETA this is the Lake Fork Tackle popper I have. The one on top is after a little less than a year of having it. I ordered two more that winter, that baby catches fish!

Agree, but I would also throw in green.

I tried a bunch of different colors when I first started fishing them. Then kept hearing the pros say they mostly just throw black or white so I tried it. My bites went up dramatically, but it also coincided with when I got really good at walking them. That's the most important part to me; being able to make them walk steady while only moving an inch or so toward the boat with each move.

Sebile Action First Pivot frog IMO is hand down the best frog I have ever used. The single hook caused my hook up rate to skyrocket

I've wanted to do this for a while now:

Back home, I have access to a great private pond (it's closer to a lake). I wand to fish it with a friend while one of us uses rapalas and Yamamotos, and the other uses the discount knock offs.

Why are all Sebile baits on sale right now? My dad just bought a shitload of their 1/4 oz lipless cranks a couple weeks ago cause they were like a buck or two a piece. Says the frogs are on sale for $1.71!? I might buy some just cause they're so cheap right now.

I believe they are going to come out with a whole new price point and re-tooled baits soon.......probably they will be introduced at I-Cast next month.
