I drew Montana Elk and I need to get proficient out to 70 yds. I do not see the range at highland anymore, which would be ideal.

My yard is not long enough (TWSS). Where you guys shooting for this type of distance practice?

I guess you could always bring your own target to the old highland range?

I used to bring a target and shoot in City Park when I lived in NOLA

Good luck with that Elk.

There’s a BREC archery range on Tiger Bend/Antioch that I’ve used before. Don’t THINK it stretches out that far but you could probably set one up that long.

This range was previously located at Highland Road Community Park but was moved to Louisiana Park - 6998 Antioch Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70817 - to make room for a boat launch to be constructed at Highland.
Here's a link to the new location:

50 yard max distance

Bowie Outfitters has a 10 lane indoor range

Believe it is $10/hour

Gotham Archery Baton Rouge (full disclosure, I own it), 20 lanes on the long side, 10 lanes on the short (10 yard side)
30 yard max distance during quiet times, 20 yards other times
$10/hr

Waddill Wildlife Refuge
3 different ranges
Target Range: practice range, bag targets and some block targets
ARTAC 3D Range: 3D animal targets for traditional bows only
Tangi 3D Range: 3D animal targets for all bow types

Not directly in BR but you may want to try the West Feliciana Parks. There is an Archery range but not sure how far the targets extend. Only other place in Baton Rouge area is Waddill Wildlife Refuge off Flannery Road. I have shot there before but don't remember if they go up to 70 yards. Just a thought.

If you have your own target, you could always set up on the river side of the levee just about anywhere between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. (Shhhh, I know a few guys who've sighted in rifles like that.)

I have my own target but would prefer a bigger backstop for those long shots. Thanks for all the suggestions. I need to get on it

Not in Baton Rouge, but if you are across the river for work or anything, the Iberville Parish Firing Range near Plaquemine also has 20, 50, and 70 yard bow range with an elevated shooting tower. Have used the firing range a few times and it is excellent.

Southern outfitters in Zachary has a nice indoor range. I don't think it goes to 70 yards though, I want to say it's 60.

I hang a big rubber stall mat up behind my target when I shoot that far. They're about $50 at Tractor Supply.

Yeah it's a cool shop. Clay the owner is a good guy too. I don't mind giving them my money

If you were in the Thibodaux area, I'd invite you to come over and shoot with us on Sundays. Buddy has 12-15 targets from 20-105 yards.

I bring my Block out to the old Highland range and shoot since I live close by. Been doing it the past couple years and never had anyone approach me.

Also climbed a tree by the kayak launch with my saddle and shot down into the parking lot since it’s usually empty

The Antioch range is maybe 50ish yards. Not much of a backstop. Not sure how effective the chain link will be. I don't see many folks there so you could probably cheat it a little and shoot across the range.

Congrats on the tag!!!

Percy quin state park in mccomb. You could get a cabin for the weekend and practice your long range there.

I regularly shoot 100yds in my yard. I use a black hole 18”x18” to shoot that distance. I have a 8” circle on. The only reason to practice that far is to make 50 seem like a chip shot. It does great to stop arrows at that distance.

Good luck. If you cant find anywhere, and want to come to mccomb, we can shoot in my yard one afternoon.
