If you're bored Saturday, go out to Bayou Bowmen. They have a Marked 3D shoot in New Iberia. There is a bow hunter division. I'd be there but my wife planned a graduation party.

old Highland range

I went to that place once back in the 90's after work. Got out there and was alone shooting until dusk. All of a sudden I noticed a dude standing on the edge of the woods by a tree watching me. Then I saw a couple more dudes. Thought "this is weird and I am leaving..." Started back to the car and saw three or four more guys near the outdoor bathrooms. Hustled back to the car and hauled butt out of there.

Ended up mentioning the story to a buddy who worked for EBRSO and he started laughing. Apparently the Highland Road archery range was the On the Down Low gay hook up spot in BR for years. Kind of wonder if thats part of the reason it got shut down.

Highly recommend Waddill. Good place to shoot, work on conditioning and break boots and back pack in. Course has several targets and animals. Long shots on the power line.

It’s free but I join the Tangi and ARTAC groups for $20 each a year. They maintain the targets and are good people.

I've shot from 65 yards out at Antioch. If no one is there you can do it. Just don't miss b/c you probably aren't finding your arrow.

I was about to say this. They have like 2-3 targets stacked up at 60ish yards. If it’s just you there, you could definitely walk back an extra 10. That park was great for me to get my 60 years pin zeroed in.

I drew rifle. I’ll be going out to Roaming Shot a few more times to work on my distance.

Waddill has an archery range and a 3-D archery course back in the woods that would help train you for hiking too. I’d probably lose all my arrows back there.

Southern Outfitters in Zachary has an indoor range out to 60 yards. They also do tournaments and 3D shoots sometimes if you’re interested.
