May not be worth it just to lower the note...

I fully understand that this is probably not the smartest financial option. However, if he needs to lower his payments, this will do it.

Yes, I was putting it out there for him.

Once he sees that his payoff may equal the same dollars as if he carried the note to term, he may reconsider.

I have learned may of these lessons the hard way.

Or you can own your vehicle in 5 years, pay yourself that $500 car note over the next 2 years (plus the interest you didn't pay) and after your 84 months, have $15000 total towards your next vehicle. Sounds better to me.

Don't argue with him. He is convinced that he is right. Just try and help others to realize he is full of shite.

And it's those years AFTER you have this truck note paid off that you'll really be saving money...

Brilliant, simple post.

This is why you never lease your DD.

stretch your term anyway.

let's make it simple:

if you go 60 months and your note is 500.00, you will definitely save on interest.

HOWEVER, if you go 84 mos, and your note is 400.00 per month........and you put 100.00 bucks away every month.......you will have saved 8400.00 by the time your truck is paid. that 8400.00 belongs to you now and it adds to your NET WORTH.

those that pay their xlt's off in 60 mos, have saved a couple of thousand on interest but now OWN a vehicle that is depreciating every single day.

not you though buddy. you will own your vehicle in 7 years and can take that 8400.00 and tell all those frickers that wanted to pay off a depreciating vehicle faster to kiss your arse.
WTF?

How would anyone be better off paying more in interest and having a note for two more years? Did you just not take into any consideration the fact that one can save the entirety of the note for two additional years as opposed to your suggestion?

He can't help it, he's been brainwashed by his dealership...or he's just really bad with math and money. Either way, you pretty much knew you couldn't trust him when he said he's a salesman.

Not to speak poorly of the posters here that are constantly helping people. It's just that they are the exception, not the rule.

Don't do that. Not all sales people are dumb. Although he certainly is not helping the stereotype.

Not all are dumb, I even acknowledged that there are several here who help people every day. But by and large, they are untrustworthy.

Forget about helping the stereotyoe, he's driving it. I would love for this to be moved to the money board, they would love reading his advice.

Thinking about trading in my truck for a lower note. I have a 2014 FX4 with 44k miles. Thinking if i can find a 2016 XLT 4x4 for the right price, i may be able to reduce my current note.

What have y'all paid for a 2016 XLT 4x4 F150?

I bought a 2016 XLT 4x4 F150 with the 302A package, spray in bedliner, tailgate step, tow package. Sticker was $53, I paid $37,500.

Keep your 14 fx4...trust me. Why downgrade to a xlt. Lots of good advice has already been said. I have a 14 fx4 and got a good deal on it. Refinanced it 3 months later for a year less than dealership and saved on note and got rate down to 2.5%. Don't be dumb and trade it in to save money because your not at all..your going backwards. But hey not my my money

I'm about to sell my jeep for a Ford F-150 4x4 XLT. I hate the price but only good thin I have going for me is the money off the sale of my jeep to put towards it. Hopefully by this summer.
I'm hoping 36-38k. I have some time to look but i do wish it was the end of the year.

Most successful sales professionals are honest or they don't last long in their careers, and this includes car salesmen.

Nothing happens in this country until somebody sells something.

That is a fact.

Why do you say this?
I'm curious because I'm currently deciding on getting a '14 FX4 or a '16 XLT 4x4 with the fx4 pack and color match appearance package.
The '16 seems like it will be a few thousand more and it doesn't have leather seats. It also will have no miles though.

I'm stuck lol

How do you like it?
I don't see many differences between the fx4 other than the leather seats and a few other little things

I chose a loaded '15 lariat over a loaded '14. I would choose a loaded '14 over a stripped '15.

Ride and power train are the same. Top end technology is much improved, but lacking on the XLTs.

So far so good. A week after I bought it it developed a hose leak that took a week to get the part, but I've had it back now for 2 weeks. It rides very well. Haven't pulled my trailer with it yet, but that will come soon enough. I got the 5.0 engine, did not want to take a chance on the ecoboost.
