How does an electric reel like that work for so long? I mean I thought you basically hit the button and it winched the fish in? I guess they have drag? What does it winch in when the drag is not pulled? Or is there someone there pushing the button to bring in line? I've obviously never used an electric reel.

9/10 people sword fishing in LA use electric reels. Not really fishing, but hey that’s more time to drink beer and relax.

Mine have all been on hand crank. If you just going for meat haul I see no problem with electrics though

It's still an awesome experience

I've only sword fished once, but if you were serious about BIG swords wouldn't you use a heavier rod with heavier line/ drag so you wouldn't have to fight them so long? I'm guessing the electric reel doesn't have as much drag as some other outfits?
