I know we talk about ARs and AKs all the time, but do we ever talk about body protection? Is it needed? Is it a waste? Is it considered paranoid to think/consider it?

I wonder why I’m getting downvoted. I thought it was a legitimate question. I see them advertised all the time on Facebook, but I don’t know anyone personally that have bought any.

Buy once and get ceramic if you get anything. Steel is heavy, you’ll be hot as hell, and end up taking it off anyway.

Is ceramic cheaper than steel?

No, but dont get steel.

You'll have 30lbs of steel on you.

ETA: if you get a carrier, get some training plates, they are just like hollow plastic. But wearing a will mess with how you present a rifle so you definitely need to go to the range and shoot with it.

Ceramic/polyethylene composite looks to be the best bang for the buck. Relatively light and not too bulky. $100/plate is a good value as well.

Are you going to a war zone?
Are you going somewhere where you know stupid shite is happening?
If I feel like I need to wear a bullet proof vest somewhere I’m gonna reconsider if I really need to go there.

I mean, I’m not going anywhere, but we all talk about having a gun hoping that we would never need to use it for self defense. Why wouldn’t consider armor in the same respect?

Because you can carry a gun everywhere you go but I highly doubt you’re wearing body armor to Wendy’s.

You’re not going to have time to put it on in the middle of a home invasion. So the only time it would come in handy is if you’re willingly putting yourself in danger which is just stupid.

Eh, I don't see any issues with giving yourself an extra layer of protection given the current national climate. I'm sure plenty of people in NOLA wished they had some extra protection in the wake of Katrina.

I bought an el cheapo carbon fiber mask on Amazon because it looked cool for a Halloween costume.

Ended up shooting it with up to a hot 10mm before something punched through

I may buy another one eventually just because.

I mean sure but it if it makes you feel safer or if you just think it’ll be cool. I don’t care I just think it’s silly
