I bought my son a lab for his b day last year. He's 9 months old and was a pet. I'm looking to give him away to someone that will take care of him.
He runs loose around my home with a wireless shock collar but having issues with him chewing things around my patio. I don't want to pen him up so I've decided to get rid of him to the right owner!

Start taking it for walks and throwing tennis balls for it.

I got it for a pet! I don't duck hunt and will not lock the dog up in a 10x10 kennel. I will give it to someone if they can make use of him. Thanks for your insight.

I have a 4 yr old black lab and would take yours in a heartbeat, but I also have a 13mo daughter. Good luck.

Great lesson you are teaching your kid. Oh well at least the dog will have a better life this way.

If you refuse to kennel the dog then you are an idiot, and I agree that you need to give the dog to a caring owner.

I'm sure your son will understand why you're giving him away. You couldn't have really thought you just stick a puppy in the yard, call it a day and the dog won't be destructive. You could also learn a bit about dog ownership and responsibility instead of just giving him away.

Exercise him, get chew toys for him and if the invisibly fence shock collar isn't working then get a better one. My last lab was that way for about 18 mos then he settled down. Let that boy keep his dog.

You think you can just get a dog and he'll magically be good? Doesn't work like that man. You're behaving poorly as a parent IMHO.

I don't have time to train another dog, but hopefully someone more responsible than you takes the it. Labs are amazing, loyal, and are the best dogs you can have. Your getting chastised is justified

Long walks, keep it in a kennel during the day, it won’t kill him I promise. Dogs need jobs, labs retrieve, get some tennis balls for it to retrieve and a chew toy so it won’t chew on the furniture.

Why don't you just take the dog out back and shoot it?

I don’t understand why one would get a lab as a house dog and find themselves shocked when it chews things up at 9 months old.

ETA.

I hope that dogs finds a better situation

In the guys defense it is pretty hard to imagine the destructive properties of a bored lab. He is lucky to have just lost some wicker. I saw one chew the wiring off a three wheeler a lawnmower and an air conditioner in a morning.
