When I was about 7, I went on a 3 day offshore trip that my dad went on. I had a blast. There was a TV with movies (saw three tits in total recall...hell, that may have been my first tits), I had highlights magazines, and I got to catch hardtails. I've never gotten sea sick in my life though, so that may have had a lot to do with the trip being good for me. But I didn't know if I got sea sick or not until I went

Same here but one trip turned into 4-6's and he got sick as frick. I was not having the best of days either and now that he is 16, he told me that trip sucked and he hated it. I would be a little hesitant unless it was somewhat decent seas.

I just went and bought the wife some Dramamine at Walgreens for a long flight tomorrow. They had Dramamine for kids. Might be an idea.

Dont wait to give hom dramamine the day before. Start 3-4 days before and make him drink twice what he normally does to ge him hydrated just in case he gets sick.

I was 7 on my first trip out of Venice. Slept 3 days offshore. Had a fricking badass time. For some reason the rough seas were like a amusement park ride or me. Granted my dad gave my Bonine every morning when we would start trolling. I mean it's really a toss up. If he gets sick u might burn him with offshore fishing. If he loves it like I did then u have a blue water companion for life bc he will never fear it.

Could be very tough on him. Call his pediatrician and get a script to prevent seasickness. Take snacks, toys, best blankets and pillows. Good luck.

If you take him, get an EZ Rider boat chair for him.

You can get their bean bag for less than 100 bucks.

Trust me - and their web page had sluts on it last time I checked.

Edit to add link:

Invest in one of these....

Taking him that far out if it's his first time would be a no go for me. I've seen a lot of people who get sick when the lose sight of the shoreline

Keep a lifejacket on him at all times and watch him like a hawk.

I have a trip Sat, going out about 45 Miles on a 60+ foot boat. I am a freshwater guy. Can a 5 year old(tough 5 year old) Handle this trip. I want him to have fun, and he is pumped to go, but will it be wise?
. I

Sure. I started bring my kids out at that age in a smaller boat. Bring food/drinks and things to keep him from getting bored on the ride out. He will sleep on the way end.

He does plenty spec/red trips now but that's a different ball game

i know deckhands who have fished decades and never once gotten seasick. if you have a hard stomach you be fine.
