A-400 problems

It shouldn't. Maybe take it to a gunsmith or have Beretta do warranty work.

Almost everyone that I know has had that problem with their A400 early. A good cleaning and it stopped. It was most likely from the grease the factory put in it. If you are still having that problem with that many hunts I would send it back to Beretta. They'll make it right.

So I purchased the same gun about 2yrs ago. When I purchased it the rep at Gander Mt advise me every season shoot 1x box of heavy dove load to break in. By doing this its allows the gas system to be fully loose.

Did my first clay shoot by the 3rd station gun began to jam up. Come to find out shooting cheap shells were the root cause. Next shoot I've switch to win xx w/ 1.125 oz load. Never jammed up again.

Light loads won't have Enough enershia to eject and reload.

A-400's are gas guns, not inertia driven. Mine has never had issues, even with cheap Rio 1oz target loads. I cleaned mine and relubed with CLP and ran a few boxes of mag game loads per the instruction manual. I put 300 rounds of mixed Rio and Winchester target ammo through it a month ago in a single clay session.

I mostly shoot Rio "target loads" (slightly lower velocity than the Rio game loads that Academy runs on sale every fall) through my A400 Xplor .

I've been shooting a little less often lately (cold/rainy weather and I'm a wuss), but I would guess I've shot 808-1000 boxs of Rio, Estate and Fiocchi shells through mine since I bought it, plus a few boxes of 3" and 3.5" duck loads. I can recall exactly two occasions when an empty hull failed to eject (both times during a sporting clays tournament). A good cleaning stopped that issue.

I clean my gun every 500-800 rounds (I'm lazy). I cleaned my Beretta 391's just about that often. The 391's were very reliable and the A400 has been even more reliable.

Sending the OP's gun back to Beretta is something he should consider. But I will say that one of my sons has a 20 gauge Beretta 390 that has given him failure-to-extract//eject problems from day one. He sent it back to Beretta, but that didn't help a bit. He still has that gun but it never gets used. I guess every manufacturer makes one every now & then that's just "out of spec."

I bought one before this season and didn't clean it until I had probably shot 2 cases. Only time I cleaned it all year and had no hang ups through about 5 cases.

Every shot was 3" though so probably made a difference

Can you tell why it's failing? Failure to extract? Is the shell too tight in the chamber causing it to not extract? Is the extractor spring too light?

Have you looked at the main spring in the stock?

It will eject the shell I just have to take my hand and push it up to finish the chambering or whatever you want to call it.
