Sometimes this is true. But I've found shopping around online VS what most of my local gun shops charges, I can get it cheaper
Most of the time.
If you're saving $50 buying online than what your LGS has it for, your probably not coming out ahead
Know if a shop that charged whatever the online savings are as the transfer fee. Bought a glock $100 cheaper? Your fee is $100.
The owner is one of the biggest POSs I anyone has ever met.
And there are multiple other pawn shops and dealers in the same town that charge $10-$15 per transfer.
It's insanity that anyone would ever actually buy anything from this guy, but he takes advantage boomers and unwitting women and novices like crazy.

Ruger is doing more of their anniversary stuff
The 10/22 is ugly as hell IMO. Not my cup of tea with all the engraving and it looks like a date stamp on it- 10/22 2025. The 22/45 isn't bad but why the leaves?

Figured I would post this here, sorry if it's already listed

So, the price ranges from $1069.99 for a 7.5" barrel version, to $1719.99 for the 12.5" with binary trigger.
Looks like the overall best value might be the AT-120, with 11.5" barrel, without binary trigger, @ $1089.99

I handled this gun in a store recently. It's bare bones GI issue clone but the action and trigger feel really good for the price.

I bet the margins on firearms is pretty low. These local gun stores make their money on different stuff but the firearms get people in the door.
One of my closest friend owns a gun store. He's told me their margins are around $30 per gun (He might have said $50, but I can't remember for sure).
Trade ins, ammo, scopes, rings, etc is where they are making their money.
I buy all my long guns from him. He's in MS, so I can't buy pistols but no issues with long guns. He normally cuts me a deal on them as well.
He is below MSRP on all his guns though.
Also, there are some gun companies that will not allow stores to sell their guns below MSRP. Staccato is one that I know off the top of my head that will not let LGS sell below.
When I bought mine a couple of months ago, that's what my local store said. He did give me some ammo to help my feelings with it though.

No less accurate than any milspec service rifle. Find the ammo it likes, learn to use the iron sights or a low power scope, and it will do great at what it was designed to do. Not every rifle is made to shoot off a bench and print clover leaves. There's also a shoestring trick that may or may not make it more fun.

It's a board for outdoor hobbies, guy. Also, a Mini-14 with iron sights and a 20 round mag is a hell of a lot more compact than an AR with the same barrel length.

I have a mini 14 and have enjoyed it. I have a scope on it so it accurate.
Only think I don’t like is that it only takes .223 ammo. I think others take both .223 and 5.56 but mine is only .223
