2019 Ranger Pricing. Wow.

In addition to the standard SuperCab, Ford offers a SuperCrew cab option with four full-size doors. That option costs $2,220 on the XL and $2,175 on the XLT and Lariat, and requires a shorter, five-foot bed. Four-wheel drive is a $4,000 option. While the base price seems reasonable, a fully loaded four-wheel drive Lariat with every option box ticked costs over $45,000.
All trim levels use the same 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford hasn’t released horsepower, torque, or fuel-economy figures yet, but note that General Motors, Honda, Nissan, and Toyota offer V6s, and GM also offers a fuel-sipping four-cylinder turbodiesel.

45k and it still has a 2.3l? Hard pass.

Literally zero reason to buy this over the Taco unless you're in the Ford family somehow (dealer, 5th generation Ford driver, etc.).
This is more of a foreign truck than "Japanese" Toyota. Ford is "all in" on EcoBoost engines in the NA market. Having said that, a ~300hp (give or take 8 percent) inline 4 in a truck application is pretty impressive, even in 2019, from an engineering standpoint.

Your in full size territory with these prices. You'd really, really have to want a midsize at these prices in my opinion.

This. I can't think of a reason to buy a midsize for the same price as a fullsize.

They better blow it away with MPG or they will be a hard sell indeed.
Posted on 8/15/18 at 1:55 pm to Cajun367
I believe domestic manufacturers might be trying to reduce sales of mid-sized trucks, because the profit margins aren't good enough at reasonable prices. They just keep them around for avg mpg standards. I can't think of any other explanation

What does a fourwheel drive every option box ticked lariat f150 cost. My bet is mid to high 60s. I mean compare apples to apple. Yeah you can get a f150 for 45k mary but it’s going to be an xlt not 4x4 and one of the lower engine models

The same engine in the Explorer (FWD/4WD) 19/18 City 27/25 Hwy & 22/21 Combined. The Ranger is probably lighter so that could move the MPG #s up but not by much.

that'll be tough. I have a 2.7 and im getting around 600 miles or a little more on the 26 gallon tank plus I can still tow stuff

My dad just got an '18 2wd lariat for $44k

I'd be more interested in an X price, as in XLt-XL-X, then lariat. I understand some of the 60+ crowd and 17 year olds will want a lariat mid size truck but for the majority that seems goofy.
I'd be curious what their profit margins are on these. Full size trucks are huge now a days. I don't understand why they can't build a small mid size with 4 doors for considerably less.

If you make 150% profit on one thing, and 75% on another, what are you gonna do?
Sell the shite out of the thing you make the most money on

That’s the reason I specifically mentioned msrp. 44k for a 2wd lariat is to be expected but I damn know that’s not msrp.
I would bet it wouldn’t be unheard of to get 8-10k off that 45k msrp number on the ranger

If it has power windows and locks, I don’t want it.

Out the door price. MSRP on fully loaded Lariats are 60K+
If they discount these rangers similarly to F150s they'll be a good option for people that don't mind the smaller size.

How many feet long is the Ranger Bass Boat?
Posted on 8/15/18 at 3:18 pm to Cajun367
With these prices I’m going to have to start taking the bus.

When poors complain about truck prices, why do they always cite the sticker price on the highest trim package?
The Ranger and the Taco start at the same exact MSRP.

That's almost as dumb as paying the price for a half ton diesel. Might as well get the Honda car/truck combo.
