I've been really itching for a 1911 recently, which means it will be about 2-3 weeks before i can't stand not having one anymore. i am fairly familiar with mid-high range (Kimber custom, springfield operator etc.) but would like to hear the wisemen of the OB's opinion and maybe some brands/models i should look into

it must have a rail and i am trying to keep it under $2k

GO!

ETA: this will not be a safe queen. i plan on running it hard and beating on it. will get holstered/unholstered a good bit so I'm not going to be worried about the finish

The Colt Rail Gun is a nice pistol. The Baer is even better. I'm going to go a different direction and recommend a Dan Wesson Specialist.

TRP Operator is your best bet before you get into semi-custom/custom stuff.

He's not getting NHC or WC for under 2 grand.

KR has a very specific suggestion. He must be on to something.

I would say.

Colt Rail Gun
S&W E series
Springfield Lightweight Operator
