told me they have a 184” deer

Not making light of the deer it’s very impressive but when I opened watched the YouTube i immediately thought that’s not a 184in deer. A quick google shows the buckmaster score sheet of 184 so he’s probably an upper 160s or low 170s BC score.
Not a gatekeeper but when I read 184 I think 184BC!!

That tracks, if it’s in the high 160s gross B&C it’s still the biggest deer ever killed in that county, just not by 20 inches.

Yeah and a fine deer but after seeing it I believe that he is legit and not an escaped high fence deer as some may have suggested. He’s a great 160 and 160s all though they can happen in piney woods. 180+ BC is a whole different caliber of deer.

A co-worker said he heard another big buck was killed off of Lawrence Reid Road around Christmas? He never saw a pic, just talk around McComb. He said it could be the same buck, story just branching in all directions maybe?

Probably the same deer, but I would be interested to know of any other information, the buck in this story was taken off a road that almost intersects with Lawrence Reid

Add in that he stands to parley this into a career via YouTube and people are going to be rightfully skeptical.

Between the shots and his narrating, that guy gut shot his career

That triggers me more than it probably should. Heck, I could make up some arbitrary scoring system and call my next one a 200!

I’m currently working on ASIM scoring.
Average score if mature will use AI to generate a score based on the average potential of mature deer in the area.
That lil 4pt you shot !! He’s 145 ASIM that spike don’t worry plug it into my 10$ a month app and you have a 138.5/8 ASIM!!!

As a person that hunts 95% public, I take whatever shot I can take. Hardly ever does a deer give you a “perfect” shot on public or while hunting in the woods. I’ve shot them in the butt, hindquarter, neck, guts, shoulder, no man’s land, at every angle imaginable. I got fed up of passing deer waiting for that perfect shot

Ooof. Man this post probably deserves a thread of its own. Just know this is what you share the woods with when you are hunting public. I would probably quit hunting if I had to hunt public only for the rest of my hunting days

Man I have killed a lot of big arse deer on public land with my bow and have never once taken at a shot at a bad angle or a non-lethal location on them.

You need to reevaluate

like I’ve stated before. Where I hunt there is antler criteria that has to be met. I’m not shooting at sounds or in bushes/branches.

I have zero problem breaking down a deer for a follow up shot if it does not give me a “perfect” shot opportunity 1st.

This is simply your excuse for taking shitty shots. One of the biggest challenges is setting yourself up for that “perfect” shot. I just dont understand your mindset. What is your weapon of choice when deer hunting?

good god man. Are you hunting for the kill or the meat?

I made a bad shot that went through its intestines and hind quarters. Talk about a bunch of shite and bile impregnated meat

I am not making excuses for questionable shots at all. I’m stating I’m not randomly shooting at sounds or not identifying my target as some post suggest.

I agree with everything you said.

I noticed that last week of duck season a lot of the grown men that hunt by us gossip more than women. I think that is one of the main reasons they go.

You absolutely did when you brought up antler restrictions.

With good reason. You admittedly take questionable shots.

Guy in video would get ran the hell off my lease taking shots like that, unless the camera angle was way off that was unreal.

I hear ya, my co-worker says he overheard 3 hunters talking about it at Presley’s and he inquired about it, but they had just heard something too. Sounds like a lot of hearsay, probably the same buck?

You can twist it however you wanna, it doesn’t bother me and I will keep doing what I do.
