Congrats to that guy for his tenacity. I would have probably shot a doe and drug it out while that deer watched from the bushes. Several times im sure.

So the dudes brother shoots him in the leg last year? Then this guy shoots him in the hind leg and lets a dog bay him up for a follow up shot?

I probably would have stuck to pictures and called it a day.

Both shots were sketchy and shouldve been several steps prior but hey, he got the job done

what was precisely the story? I seen he said they found him 30-40 yds on neighbors property, was that after the follow up/kill shot? he should have gave that buck some ice cream for shooting him in the arse.

The last shot was beyond sketch. It sure looked like he shot straight through the bushes. With that small of a shooting lane I'm not sure why he didn't have his gun up and ready all day and the camera on non stop.

not a very good speaker either. I with everyone saying that shot was sketchy - an animal like that deserves better.

Awesome that it’s legit. Congratulations

Reminds somewhat of this story.

Wonder how the guys are feeling right now who let him walk because they couldn't get a "good" shot.

I never would want an animal to suffer. But the biggest reason it was a dumbass shot is he is on 33 acres. You gut shoot a deer on 33 acres and it’s almost guaranteed that deer is running to your neighbors property, and by neighbors I mean it could be running through 5 neighbors properties.

Could be wrong but I’d bet he knows his neighbors pretty well and they know him.

Also would believe neighbors have had wounded deer run onto his too. You'd have to be a complete a$$ to not let neighbors retrieve wounded game.

I don’t know the guy, and from watching that video there are a lot of things he did/said that make me cringe. But in regard to this statement about being a dumbass for hunting on 33 acres, how far from a property line are you suggesting everyone hunt? If you have 1,000 acres, are you suggesting only hunt in the center just in case a deer runs towards a property line?

Who goes in the record book for this deer? The dog that did a fantastic job finding it or the guy that shot a running deer in the arse?

I take whatever shot I can take. Hardly ever does a deer give you a “perfect” shot on public or while hunting in the woods. I’ve shot them in the butt, hindquarter, neck, guts, shoulder, no man’s land, at every angle imaginable. I got fed up of passing deer waiting for that perfect shot.
Did you have to put this in ChatGPT and get it translated from Cajun French to post it?

Because good lord baw that’s the most coonass deer hunting post possible

Same. If I don't think I can kill it quick I'm not taking the shot. Putting a bad shot on one and it taking 6 hours to die is way worse than not killing one.
My paw paw was famous for saying

“You judge a hunter about the deer you pass up not the deer to take”.

A lot of people have said it as well and it’s true as shite. Anyone can pull a damn trigger

Never understood why someone that kills a huge deer, and people already question it...... make no sense to me

Because far too often people claim to have killed big deer in regular average joe circumstances when it was actually killed in high fence or at night or a pet deer that was hand fed or in a different state and entered into a local contest for the prize money.

I’m glad it was legit even though it was a terrible shot. You can’t blame people for raising an eyebrow at it though.

I never said he was a dumbass for hunting 33 acres, I said he was a dumbass for taking an obvious gut shot on 33 acres when a gut shot deer is very likely to run a long way.

Sure, you may know your next door neighbor. But I've tracked deer for hundreds of yards that could have crossed 4 or 5 neighbors.

The main reason I'm saying he's a dumbass for that, is its not guarantee he even gets that deer. That deer could have easily ran past another hunter, for one.

It wouldn’t be that hard to understand if you had familiarity with the area. I don’t have a dog in this hunt but live about 30 mins away and if someone told me they have a 184” deer on camera I would laugh in their face and assume they have no idea what they’re talking about. A good mature buck in the piney woods that people are proud of is 130”. Killing that deer in south MS is akin to being struck by lightning while holding the winning powerball ticket. Add in that he stands to parley this into a career via YouTube and people are going to be rightfully skeptical.
