Some of you are just special.
Can we not gather together to cheer for someone that we were once all gathered around? Cheer for him to break a record?
Or because he is competing for someone else you hope he fails?
That takes way too much effort to be that kind of negative.
Cheer for the man. Celebrate his success. I promise you’ll feel better at the end of the day
Exactly. Bunch of idiots.

Sweden allowed his dad to coach and cleared more age restrictions. He's the most popular athlete in Sweden and is making more money. He absolutely made the right choice.
Agree
Same as people going to LIV from PGA

Even if you’re not rooting for him, You have to admire the ability to do what he just did.

If mondo didn’t go to lsu and was instead a 100m sprinter from Alabama with the exact same situation there would be no support for him on this site
But I don’t care because the honest truth is no Olympic athlete really cares much about “doing it for country”. They are competing for themselves just like I would be or anyone else

Nice to see Sam get another medal after COVID fricked him in Tokyo

if he was chinese I would dislike him too.
there are lots of reasons to cheer for athletes.
Going to the same University as me is one of them.

G. F. Y.
You can be a sad sack anywhere but here.

Mondo absolutely shattered the previous Olympic record by over 8.5 inches.

This is why I like the olympics. That whole stadium was hoping to see greatness.
Mondo seems to be well liked and decent dude.

I’m saying the reason he is getting so much support as a non American is because he went to LSU and this is an LSU site
He’ll, an actual American shot putter just won his third straight gold and nobody cares on here comparitively. The lsu angle is what makes mondo popular on tigerdroppings

Man good for him.
I bet the people of Örebro will remember him as a young boy, roaming the country side, searching the perfect limb of an alder tree to use as a primitive pole.
Exceptional story for the Swedish native. Fly high young Swede!

He was voted as Sweden's most popular athlete in 2020... which was before his first Olympics.

Just amazing. Same yelp I had when Bubka conquered 20 feet 30+ years ago. Gives me chills like a total dork
