They were just slowly scanning across the Canadian players faces and every single one of them are just shook. Absolute shock.

3v3 is an improvement over deciding Gold in a shootout. Still need to change it to 5v5.

It used to be a 20-minute period of 4-on-4 in the Gold Medal game. If no goal scored, then they'd do a shootout.

Probably the best way you can do it, unless they just kept it 5-on-5. Not sure why they went and fricked it up with the 3-on-3.

I value this so much more to rub in Canadian faces than a 5-0 blowout.

They had it in the bag with 2 minutes to go and blew it! They were so ready for their Maple Leaf Patriotism and we smashed it!

Absolutely beautiful resilience from the women. Love the Canada heartbreak.

Maybe Tim Horton’s will let them wear their Silver Medals with their new uniforms, eh?

If the men can follow suit and win gold (particularly against Canada), the hockey fandom surge is going to be unreal. It's been fun to see the momentum of late, particularly after 4 Nations, but this thing could go kaboom.

Happy for the ladies but I agree that this should have been 5x5 sudden death for as long as needed, just like the NHL playoffs.

The US has come out on the good side of OT the last two days but yeah it’s pretty stupid to change the game so much in OT of a championship game/knockout game. 3x3 isn’t even the same game as 5x5.

Need 1 more Gold medal to match the normal USA total of 9 since 2006. 10 Golds would equal the highest ever from Salt Lake City 2002.

We'll see if the Men's team can pull it out. They have a mental block with being able to beat Canada in games that actually matter.

We’re consistently right there at the top in medal count and golds but Norway is always head and shoulders over everyone. Hockey is the biggest event though so sweep that and that’ll be the takeaway from these Olympics. That freak Klaebo and italys performance at these Olympics would both be top 3 too tho

Plus she snuck by them on a Canadian change. Canada hockey thinks they’re the smartest people in the room and they lose on a pretty basic dupe.

Don't sleep on Finland. I'd be shocked to see Slovakia beat us tomorrow, but I wouldn't be horribly surprised to see Finland get by Canada.

Depends on what version of Saros shows up.

EDIT: US would be decent favorites over Finland.

It's insane how many Canadians are obsessed with Americans in sports, they're showing themselves to be a bunch of insecure, jealous babies who love moving the goal posts to support any argument. A hell of a lot less Americans think about Canadians than they do about us.

This is what Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau (the dad) said in 1969:

quote:

Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt

Canadiens are obsessed with Americans in sports because they know everything they do to live and breathe is reliant on the US. They know it, but they can't stand it. Sports, hockey in particular, is about the only thing they can "one up" us on.
