The "Best on Best" format definitely lived up to the hype for the gold medal game. It’s impressive that every NHL team had someone representing them in Milano Cortina.

I didn’t realize that Jack Hughes and his brother Quinn Hughes were Jewish.and the goalie Jeremy Swayman for Team USA is also Jewish. When did hockey become a Heeb sports league?

The Hughes' brothers father is an Irish Catholic. Their mother is Jewish. I don't know what they practice.
There was a question posed about overskating. Yes, in hockey you can over pursue and get caught in a poor situation. Watching the breakdown of the golden goal, that's exactly what happened to Makar. He overpursued against J Hughes, and then failed to backcheck properly. If you get caught like that, you have a responsibility to backcheck, hard, at a sprint to re-take your man. Makar didn't do that. In fact, he was guilty of gliding/loafing in the neutral zone. His man, J Hughes, scored the winning goal.
Makar is ultimately responsible, as the lone defenseman on the ice for Canada, to get back in position. Yes, MacKinnon got absolutely bullied off the Puck by Werenski. But McDavid was back to take his man. Makar was nowhere to be seen.
As Herb Brooks was famous for saying, hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. Makar didn't work hard. Hughes did. One is wearing Gold, and the other is receiving copious criticism.

I thought about this and wonder if others feel the same, but is there such a thing as too fast in hockey? Obviously to be able to just zoom around the defense is a weapon, but he would close the distance on the goalie so fast that it seemed like his options for shot selection would evaporate just as quickly and he'd get forced into something less than ideal.
Kinda yeah. Most of the time though McDavid can extend past defenders and in this case, IIRC, the US defender stayed close enough in his hip pocket with speed of his own that CMD never switched to a shooting position. You are correct that the ice gets very short when you’re going that fast.

See my post above. Yes, you can be "too fast." Think of it like football - outkicking your coverage.

I'm trying to figure out who's whining more. Is it the Canadians about losing or CNN about the celebration?
Canadians are into Day 3 of coping and making excuses. When Canada won the last best on best at Olympics, I just shrugged and could say Canada did what they needed to when it mattered, and move on with life. No carousel of excuses and cheap shots at the opponent country to feel better about myself. For all their shite talk of the last year they deserve endless ridicule for losing. I bet a good number of them are some parents who yell at their kid's coaches for not playing him/her enough with threats of getting him fired.

Connor Hellebuyck will receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his performance in the The Olympics.

Not gonna lie. I was really hoping we'd get a McDonald's fest photo coming out of the White House today. PMOF will do.

Somebody wanna troll this fella? He seems to be deep into the denial stage about his beloved hockey team losing. Somewhere in his tweets he went there using the no-Crosby excuse why Canada lost.
The worst part is this guy saying we only care about hockey when we win... So all those people who traveled to Italy and were louder than the Canadian fans didn't start to care until we won?
I've cared about hockey for nearly 30 years, and watched every Olympic tournament along the way. What does this guy know about our interest in hockey? Does he realize that there are way more American based teams in the NHL than Canadian ones? Could it be, perhaps, because there is a demand for hockey in this country?
His comment comes from a place of 100% sour grape ignorance.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an athletic team win the post championship party quite like this hockey team has.
They are having a great time.

He had so many incredible sayings.

As they should. The only greater US Olympic moments i can think of are the relay team in 08, Jesse Owen's, and the miracle game
This victory tour is more than deserved. Wonder if their teams are worried about them showing up today

I’m not really a hockey guy even though the sport is as fun as any other when the stakes are high. I love Olympic/4 Nations because it felt like we have been on the cusp of breaking through for so long against Canada.
Maybe I’m caught up in the moment, but was Sunday a Top 5 or 10 sports moment in our country?

Strictly in terms of "Team USA" moments, absolutely 100% yes.
