FIFY. They'll go with the young USC alum over a guy like Mahomes.

It won't be any NFL players. It'll be like 3on3 basketball. The team will be a few USFL players and lose to Japan or some shite.

Will probably be similar to 3x3 where players will have to qualify by a points system based on playing in tournaments year round.

US should still probably win easily.

Honestly, Disc sports like ultimate and disc golf should be in the Olympics before flag football.

It will

I have a hard time seeing major college teams or nfl teams allowing their players to compete

Yeah there is absolutely no way

There is already a Flag Football circuit, they will just get the best guys from that and they will have no problem crushing every one else

This is the answer. People will overreact to this statement, but the top US guys playing flag right now (who are all elite athletes) would beat the best NFL guys at 5v5 for a while until the NFL players catch up on the rules and tactics.

Yes, speed, size, skill all matter, and its still football, but the tactics and strategy are significantly different.

wait til McCaffrey runs for a first down and makes it first and long instead of stopping short of the line and getting 2nd and short.

The best place it can go is cancelled

If you were to take our nationwide talent pool and just keep making 12-person teams until we make one that would occasionally lose to international competition, when would that be? Team #100? #200? #500? More? That’s comically unfit for an Olympic competition, but the IOC can’t say no to the right checks

No one in the NFL has any business playing in this

Hosts are now allowed to introduce a number of temporary “culturally relevant” sports for the games. It’s how breakdancing ended up in the program.

I would not expect to see any professional or even college players playing in the Olympics. The risk is not worth the reward. Plus they will already be in practice.

These sports are supposed to be unique things to celebrate the host country.

There are no more uniquely American sport than baseball and football.

Even if it’s watered down as flag football there has to be football in an American Olympics

This. A good flag football team would take some time to gel. I would agree that the best flag team would beat the NFL’s best QB + the best 4WRs in a pickup game; however, if given time to gel as a team obviously the NFL guys would eventually catch up. The question is how long would be needed and how long would a bunch of NFL guys have to train as a team.

I would bet the Olympics WANT the NFL guys and if the price is right the NFL will go along with it. We have already heard a number of the NFL guys express interest bc deep down every American kid wants the chance to stand on the podium and get an Olympic gold medal.
