Yeah but if you didn't know everything RedStick, who would tell all of us that don't know anything why our ideas won't work or what we're looking at when we stare at the ROV feeds like dogs staring at fire hydrants.

I know what you mean. I always enjoyed flying commercially until I learned how to fly.

What?!? What do you know about flying commercially that I don't? Should I keep my feet firmly on the ground for the rest of my life?

redstick - tiger fred --
has anyone heard from that nukemvol guy or from COTiger.
I guess I could follow nukemvol's post on the Tennessee site he is posting to, but you have to register, and well...I just can't bring myself to do it.
On another note - I am at the beach right now, near Surf City, NC with my family. 7 or 8 times in one day or so I have found myself just looking, thinking about the beautiful Gulf of my teenage years, boating out of Cocodrie or wherever and it just all makes me so sad.
But Judge Holden is right - pity won't save us, guys.

It looks like they have another top hat on the bottom now, which may be a precaution/plan G but..
If they have to swap top hats what is involved in that other than taking all day to swap hoses.
Does the drill ship have to move to detach and hook up to the new hat?
Just seem there isn't that much adjustment in the on-board crane.

There are some things you're better off not knowing. Never go into the kitchen at a restaurant, for instance.

Bout the same as far as I know. Cap is in place and they are getting some oil up the pipe. Still alot leaking out at the BOP....
I have no idea other than that what is next or what they are doing....News has been slow going seems today

Well apparently they are recovering about 1,000 bbls per day. Unfortunately since they hacked off the bottom of the riser in that haphazard way, they are probably flowing about 10,000 bbls a day more into the water.

BP says it's encouraged by new containment cap
BP said Friday afternoon it was encouraged by the early performance of a containment cap that had begun successfully siphoning oil and gas to a drill ship on the surface of the Gulf.
Over the next several days, the company will attempt to shut four large vents at the top of the device and slowly ramp up the flow through the pipe, said Kent Wells, BP's senior vice president of exploration and production in a technical briefing with reporters.
"I would say that things are going as planned. I am encouraged by what we have seen, but we must remember we now have 12 hours experience with this. It's never been done at 5,000 feet before," Wells said.

Before I went to sleep this morning they had an ROV with its hand on a top hat valve. Just waiting to close the valve when given the word. That is no longer the case. Does that mean the valve has been closed? Any of the top hat valve been closed?

Sorry, but I honestly have no idea if any of the valves have been shut. Judging by the amount of oil still coming out, I hope they have not closed any of them.....
I am not optimistic though... Gotten optimistic too many times over this lately only to be let down.
