decided to take my grandmother to Hammond like last storm and stay at a friend since he has a house generator. Not sure that was a good idea if it hits somewhere like Houma. Hope it doesn't carve up on that path when it heads NE. Obviously depends on how far west it gets.

Houma is far inland. You mean cocodrie or dularge.
My parents live in hammond. They dont understand the hysteria there of people freaking out. They came down here to stay at my grandmothers since she's like 95

Sally was way trickier and uncertain of a forecast.

I'm waiting for the post-season analysis on that one. Sally was something else.

Yeah, I have to put her somewhere since she's on oxygen. I been telling her to get a house generator. Hoping this will do it. She set in her ways though. Entergy does have her on their registered list as an oxygen users so supposedly they come out to flip her lights on faster but I honestly don't think that does anything in storms. They probably have a very specific route and layout they take based on customers with power outages. I'm sure they want numbers before anything.

Right now the winds don't look bad in Hammond but if it keeps shifting west which it probably will do on the track then I think it might get bad here depending on how far west it gets. I don't think it will do any major infrastructure damage though. Just that 3 hour window of the worst stuff.

Anyone wanting something to take their mind off the storm, LA is currently losing its collective mind after the Dodgers WS win. Smoke n Scan has a stream going.

How come everything suddenly flares up red? Like even the outer squalls by Cuba?

Is this showing temperature? Precipitation? Wind speed?

Sorry I'm dumb I'm just curious and would like to learn

Because Trump teamed up with Bush to fire up the ole big bad hurricane machine for old times’ sake.

Best blown forecast I've seen in a long time. Pretty much nailed what it would do and when...it just stopped like 100 miles east of expectations. Then got spicy on approach. Hell of an interesting storm.

Recon pass getting consistent 74-77 kt FL on the NE side. Pressure gradient tightening up too. Winds haven't quite translated to the surface yet it doesn't look like but the pass ain't done. Pressure looks pretty steady, maybe down to 989 mb.

Different forms of imagery. One is for daytime one for night time. I think the first one is showing water vapor.

This is the correct answer. Check the Zulu time with our sunset and just watching the loop shows a line of transition. You also need to read the scale too; as more powerful storms can show the same color spectrum but the colors will represent different values.

Still, this will be a storm to take note of and prepare.

I think it is just the switch from one type of infrared enhancement in daytime vs nighttime, but maybe Duke could explain.

Pressure might not have dropped much but the temperature in the eye has increased a decent amount between passes and the rainfall rate in the eyewall has increased. The satellite isn't lying, it's starting to strengthening again I think.

Time is our friend here though, the longer it takes to be more than very slight strengthening the better.
