Why does a weather station in Port Fourchon that appears to just be getting the eyewall only show winds of 40mph? Are the faster winds extremely isolated?

There are 50 foot waves crashing against the trailer camp, my lab puppies are getting scared but the quadruplits are oddly sleeping through everything. Thank you Cosmo
